Discuss.  Alvarez said Hornibrook hurt his sternum on the first throw against Michigan.  Says he's ok now but wasn't when he played us.

I haven't gone back to look at the play again but I'm sure someone will post it here.

Edit: Throw instead of play

Has Wiscy ever felt "sorry" for other teams whose QB;s they have injured?  Have other teams ever felt "sorry" for Michigan when a QB goes down?

Inuries happen.  Michigan was the better team that day.  I'm surprised Alvarez is making excuses.  That's why you develop backup QB's...

Very dirty play indeed. I hate to say it and will probably piss a couple lunatics off on here but Newsom could've avoided that hit. You cant just run straight up out there in the flats against defensive backs and not try and shed them little basterads off when they go at your knees. Playing too high when running out there. Should be getting low and in an athletic position when out there in the open to take a defensive guy out on a block. I'm pissed he got hurt alright. Should've shoved his helmet into the turf when he went low and stepped on his spine.

See, I feel that the guy most likely is good at picking his spots when he posts.  He doesnt get into the Posbang threads just for the points.  Nor does he post 28 times in each thread with inane comments like some others around here.

I say Kudos to the guy that holds back until he feels he has something truly meaningful to add.

said that he doesn't care what former coaches and current athletic directors still trying to recover their losses from the Nevin Shapiro scheme think about the first play of a game played three weeks ago.

Wait, I guess if they go to another Rose Bowl he will likely coach again, again, again.

This at least two opponents now where the excuse of injured QB has come up (whether through the media or through their program), to which I say: yes...because we hit him so fucking much...because our defense made your OL look like a JV squad.

It's really tough to play college football and be hit an average amount. To play a whole game and be hit a well-above-average number of times by very large and strong people should be a human rights violation.

But it's important to note that the ball was possibly still catchable by the receiver if he can get to the ball. Sure, it looks like he's just wrapping around Stribling to tackle him (and this is the most likely scenario), but the referee can still state/judge that the receiver had an equal chance of catching the ball.

The ref can call OPI on a receiver breaking up an INT if the receiver has no chance at making a catch, but you also have to consider the down. It was 3rd down and the result of any OPI would have likely been a decline, making UW punt, which they did on the next play.

In summation, OPI could've been called if the ref saw it that way, but in the end, even if it wasn't the right call by the eyeball test, it was still the right call given the situation and the ref's assumed judgement on the field. The only thing this affected was Stribling's INT numbers.
