Summary:  G. Brown to Findlay (D-II);  Carvin Johnson to Hampton (Edit: I-AA aka FCS); Barnett at his local Junior College.

Although already, discussed on this board, this article adds that Je"Ron Stokes is at Bowling Green (where his brother was a redshirting freshman QB last year) and Posada is out of football.

He might have been able to help us next year, true, but he wasn't seeing the field much because of his attitude, as someone said below.  Drew Dileo and Jeremy Jackson, who are less physically talented, saw the field more than Stokes...and there was good reason.

I was really excited to see what Carvin could do in our secondary.  With him gone, I'm really glad we got Jerrod Wilson.  He might be the recruit that I'm most excited about because we haven't had a true center field type safety is a long time.

Time to update Magnus' Ex-Wolverines encyclopedia. Also, I found the Tony Posada article/video linked from the annarbor.com writeup pretty interesting. Seems like the kid just flat out couldn't hack it. RR's classes have just had mind boggling attrition. Hopefully with Hoke's classes going forward with more kids coming from nearby and also reverting to taking fewer academic risks the number of kids leaving goes down.

was pretty disappointing.  Too many marginal players who didn't seem to fit in here well.  There's always going to be some of those guys, but hopefuly Hoke and staff will have a much better batting average.

RR's first full recruiting class has produced:

-A QB who will graduate as the greatest touchdown maker in UM history

-Another QB who accounted for nearly 3,000 yards of offense and 21 TDs

-A 1,000 yard rusher at RB this year as a sophomore

-Another back with 1,500+ career yards of offense and 15 total TDs

-An all B1G 2nd team LT as a sophomore

-Another quality starting OL (as a sophomore)

-The team's 2nd leading receiver

-A DE who posted 4 sacks and forced a game-changing safety against OSU (as a junior) en route to honorable mention all-conference honors as a junior

-A 5-star backup DT who posted 2 sacks playing behind two all-conference performers this year who will start next year

-Another 4-star DT who should log significant PT if not start next year (Washington)

-The kicker who won the Sugar Bowl and clinched the OSU game

-A linebacker who posted 43 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack and 1 INT while splitting time with another RR recruit at WLB

-A linebacker who posted 77 tackles, 3 INT, and returned a fumble for a TD as a freshman before sitting this year due to injury and the emergence of another RR recruit at SLB

-Our starting free safety who finished third on the team in tackles as a sophomore

And these guys all still have eligibility remaining (in many cases two seasons worth).  We didn't just win the Sugar Bowl because we've been bringing in scrubs the last few years.  Every class at every school has a bunch of guys who don't pan out or transfer.  Very few classes, here or anywhere else, can produce as many talented contributors across the board I just laid out.

RichRod's finishing touches to the '08 class and his '09 class, for the most part, have turned out pretty well.  But the early returns on the '10 class are looking pretty bad right now.  And every above average player so far looks to be on offense.  The 2009 defensive class looked good at the time, but has been mostly a disaster of epic proportions.  The three "linebackers" from that class are mostly worthless.  The two 4* DBs were massive busts.  The 5* DT is basically a bust.  The 4* rush end has been a minor disappointment.  Another 4* DE left the team.  Going into 2012, we're still talking about the possibility of a walk-on and a true freshman starting on the defensive line, as well as a true freshman maybe playing at WLB and true froshes getting significant snaps elsewhere.

The kid didn't want to play football. He didn't even want to play when he was at Plant, he just did because he was big and really good at it.

I think the kid will be fine, hopefully a successful businessman (I believe he said that was his interest).

I can see a young person exposed to that kind of extreme pressure, transferring, and wanting to complete their studies and still play ball with less time under the microscope. Or even not playing the game at all in the case of Mr. Posada.

PurpleStuff,

You just listed 14 players that RR recruited who have had slight contributions over 3 full classes.  To even get this many, you had to dip to some pretty unimpressive stats:  a horribly under achieving 5 star, a Junior WDE with 4 sacks (?!!?!?), the 2nd best receiver on the team (well no shit), a starting free safety, and a kicker.....Sorry to break it to you, but being Michigan and having those recruiting resources, you should have 14 players who at least received conference honorable mention by this point, not just "starting free safeties" and other achievements that are just related to the individual team.

These are horribly unimpressive and you just added to the argument against which you were trying to prove,
