I think you will get your wish.
Bama cancels michigan state home and home
Kinda sall this coming....nothing to do about MSU, but what does the SEC have to gain by doing this...play your crappy non-BCS schools at home and pocket the money.
To lock in "sall" for "saw"
yikes!!! Redneck moment there
What does this mean!?
It means Mike Valenti will find a difference between ND cancelling the UM series and 'Bama cancelling the MSU series and still find a way to put a negative spin on UM and the opponent cancelling the series
It may mean that the SEC is going to a 9 game conference schedule.
It's the merciful thing to do.
Was looking forward to the blood bath, especially considering sparty was all over twitter last year during the season opener dogging Denard. Would have like to been a cockroach and troll them, as Michigan players would have been to classy to do so.
They still have to play Oregon in 14/15, so your chances to witness an MSU blood bath at the hands of a team that did the same to M are still good.
Hey...they would rather play Southwest Bumf**k state and win by 12 TD's.
I'm fed up with paying lots of money for what should be scrimmages.
are looking at you.
That we didn't beat both teams by 40 points is as much of an indictment against the current team over the last two weeks as it is against whomever did the scheduling.
Can we get in on some of that now/again?!
MSU said no. Now we'll just have to wait and see if Dantonio calls them chickens...
But I'd already bulk ordered the popcorn for when Saban ripped his former employer to shreds...
The Alabama game was supposed to start the season for Michigan State in 2016, I believe, and then they had Furman, Eastern Michigan and ND. That also reduces their 2017 OOC slate to Miami (OH), Western Michigan and ND. So compelling, these games...
Next time DB is golfing with Hollis, he can slip him App State's business card.
is Michigan State scheduling Furman for?
MSU needed to drop an OOC game in 2016 and 2017 anyways. They had 4 games scheduled both years and 2016 marks the first year the B1G plays 9 game conference schedules.
with Alabama state, they said they can't till the difference between the two.
Alabama State has a pretty cool band. I saw them a couple years ago when they traveled up to Ypsilanti.
Furman and Directional Michigan aren't great, but I'm not going to fault MSU for atleast trying to schedule teams like Alabama. They also have a home and home with Oregon the next two years followed by what would have been 'Bama and then a series with West Virginia. They also had some talks with Miami (YTM) a few years back but I don't know if anything materialized. At least they are trying.
Don't be fooled. Oregon replaces Notre Dame 2014 and 2015.
Also, they are scheduled to play Miami (YTM), not WVU. Those games also replace Notre Dame in 2020 and 2021.
They needed to schedule marquee match-ups because ND is off the schedule.
Isnt this what a lot of people here wanted? Dropping ND periodically for marquee matchups? MSU actually did it with home and homes with Alabama and Oregon. We got stuck with Colorado, Oregon State, and Utah.
Now we'll get hordes of Juggalos beating their chests about how Nick Saban was too terrified to play in BEAST LANSING.
One upside of moving away from Michigan is the noticeable absence of Sparty.
They will be the only ones thinking that; everyone else will feel happy they don't need to see the destruction.
Alabama must have found out that their road part of the deal wasn't a neutral game site in the south.
Let's not forget that Bama isn't afraid to play up north like what we think about the rest of the SEC. They played at Penn State just two years ago.
You ask anyone on that team, and I doubt any of them are the least bit intimidated about playing in places like the Big House, Ohio Stadium, or Camp Randall.
I cannot wait to see the first Sparty fan to claim that Alabama is afraid to play MSU.
They have a very important rivalry game against North South Louisiana A&T school of Mining. Enough time has been spent avoiding there bitter rivals known as NSL A&T S of M Victims and this was the unfortunate result. NSL A&T S of M is a well respected online university that prepares its' students for the high paying job of medical transcriptions and has the new Saban Institute for Massage therapy learning center. The learning center has placed many of its graduates in the lucrative SEC recruiting hostess industry.
This rivalry has been building since the "Crimson Clap" case of 2011 when it is alleged that one of the Saban Centers finest gave a 5 star WR recruit from Miami Dade the fire hose. NSL A&T SofM strongly disagrees saying it's graduates are of the highest moral character and that the incident was from the recruit adding that the young woman in question was out of work for a month after and had extra medical costs not covered by Alabama's workmans comp insurance as they said it was a pre-exisiting condition.
... Alabama is preparing for life after Saban, reportedly he looks good in burnt orange.
Dantonio to Saban: We're here.
A Sparty called up the XM-91 college sports show to ask if Alabama was backing down, b/c you know D. Terry will be a senior QB and with the other good recruits ....
For the second time Saban would not...
State should thank them after the beating Bama gave them last time.
Where's the threat?
Love it. Alabama essentially calling MSU irrelevant.
On a cream puff without returning an away game.
To Sparty's credit, they are at least trying to schedule marquee games. I personally hope we replace ND with a comparable program.
Chicken!! No seriously - I was surprised by this scheduling in the first place as Saban is friends with Dantonio so it didn't seem like he would want to embarass a friend; that said I presume Saban though MSU would be a somewhat functioning offensive team by mid decade. All that said I am all for scheduling SEC teams in home and home series and I sure would not mind if we did what the SEC does and that is schedule Big 10 games early and leave some spots open in November for non conference games - specifically to invite a few SEC powers up to visit northern climates when its 28 degrees and snowing.
Everyone in EL should be on their knees thanking Alabama for this.
I will credit MSU for actually having the balls to put Bama on its schedule, but Bama is doing them a favor. That series would be a bloodbath in every sense of the word.
At least now MSU's offense has a chance to put up some points against whoever it plays versus likely getting shut out against Saban's boys.
