Bad news on the Pike front? (another Qb)

Submitted by KrisGoBlue on
QB Appleby was offered today. Maybe bad news on our chances for Pike.

The kids say a whole lot of stuff when they are being wined and dined by college football coaches and universities.

Also, it is not "were today"--Pike still has plenty of time and he'll take plenty of offers and calls in the next ten months. He's 18 and this has got to be one heck of a time for someone that young.

If you hinge on every recruit's every word and all of Sam's gut feelings, you are going to need therapy before long.

Sam never said anything about a gut feeling when it comes to Pike.  A gut feeling means that a kid told Sam that he's coming to Michigan, though Sam would probably never admit that.  I've only known Sam's gut feeling to be wrong twice in about three years.  Once was with Sean Parker, who had already posed in Michigan gear for the cover Scout's magazine and once was with that class of 2011 LB who ended up at UCF.   That kid pretty obviously just changed his mind.

From what I read afterwards, Willingham's last 3 visits were to Colorado, UM and UCF and he silent committed to each on his visit, having previously committed and decommitted to Texas A&M without being on campus. Bizarre.

Maybe distance will play a role in his decision.  Ann Arbor is a lot closer to his home compared to Auburn.  Of course he could pick Purdue, but I don't think he will.

I didn't want to post this on another thread and I'm SIAP, but when Tom says he has a "Strange" feeling about this in regards to where Pike will commit, does that mean that he's going to commit to Purdue. Because "Strange" does not imply good, and Tom has hinted he doesn't think it is the case that Pike will be going to Auburn... Which leaves it to us and Purdue.

Maybe I'm looking wayyy too much into one of the words that Tom used-- which he could have used to try to keep Zeke's moment HIS OWN. I don't know. GODDAMMIT WHY CAN'T IT BE WEDNESDAY?

This may sound crazy but i was looking at Zeke's facebook when the news was first put out and there were all these arkansas fans on there. Then like 4 hours later arkansas is in his top four. So I don't know maybe we should show our support on his page.

I realize that losing zeke pike would be a big blow.  however, Appleby seems like a quality kid.  He's a big guy, 6'5" with a 4.0 gpa.  It seems like the offers are about to come in for him.  He's obviously smart, he might be pretty darn good. Just trying to be optimistic.
