That is, for those of you who can stand listening to the hosts.

Hoke and the Coke promotion to be discussed on Around the Horn on ESPN in a few minutes.  Also scheduled for PTI as one of the main segments.

Lead in: "What's worse for your body, drinking two bottles of Coke or watching 60 minutes of Michigan football?"

Thank you Dave Brandon, Michigan is now a punchline.

It's bad enough watching the game on TV and seeing 25-30% of the student section empty. One of my buddies is a PSU alum and noticed it on TV. He thought is was sad considering UM wasn't even saddled with crippling NCAA sanctions. Beaver Stadium has been fluctuating between 80-100k attendance the past few years when their capacity is about 109k. Nothing like self inflicted wounds to get us on the same trajectory as a scandal rocked program. Thanks Big Dave!

Was pretty off-putting.  That was out earlier, but it's going to go down like a fart in church with prospective replacements.

Also, I found it interesting that Bacon said Hoke could keep his job if Michigan

went 7-1 or 9-3"

It's like Bacon is freaking quoting Brian's mgoblog post from this today. Or did Brian get this from another source and Bacon is corroborating that?

Isn't it common sense?  To go 7-1 in conf he'd have to put a viable product on the field.  Something not seen so far versus real competition.  If you go and beat everyone but MSU the rest of the year and dont lose by 20 to them he'd have miraculously turned it around and you'd have a ton of momentum.  No one but the most maize colored glasses can really see that - multiple road wins? Including @ OSU?  For a team that cant get into the red zone.

So yes a 9-3 record which finished with great momentum finishing off 7-1 after a 2-2 start - that would seem like a resume for a return.

Liklihood?  From what I have seen - 0.1%.

If we end up as 8-4 and are competitive in the MSU and OSU games (assuming those are the two losses, which probably will be) then I'd be okay with everybody staying honestly. Thats some solid improvement to go from a shut out @ND to being competitive @MSU/@OSU. If we can keep it within 7pts for both of those games thats solid in my book

has been huge and messy

there have been a ton of false steps, but if we can go 8-4 (6-2) in B1G, then hoke should stay

We would  have momentum for next year and a ton of returning guys

Turning the season around would show Hoke can coach and the players have bought into the system

I'm on the "we need a different coach" bandwagon for a variety of reasons but I would agree that we should keep BH if he turns it around and gets us to 9-3. I'd even accept 8-4 if there is massive improvement and we lose very close games to MSU and OSU. Maybe in flukey circumstances.

Good luck Brady

Michigan won't have to wait long. The 7-1 and 9-3 goal will be answered by mid-October, two weeks before kickoff in East Lansing.

I can see visualize a over Minnesota. But at Rutgers? Even Penn State looks iffy in the Big House.

Minnesota

at Rutgers

Penn State

Even if Michigan clears the decks of these three and plays well vs. MSU, Indiana and Maryland are big, big games for Michigan this fall.

It's ironic, but if the writing is on the wall for Hoke before November 29, I could see Michigan kicking the shit out of Ohio in Columbus.

Seems to be making the rounds.  Not that they’re considered experts or that their opinions should carry any weight on this subject, but on ESPNU earlier this afternoon, Danny Kanell and Joey Galloway both used the 7-1 record as the measurement by which they believed Brady Hoke’s job would be considered safe.

Whether it's Brian or Bacon or someone from within the Athletic Department or hundreds of people commenting on MGoBlog or Mlive.com throughout the off-season, it's pretty clear that Hoke needed to beat MSU or OSU (preferably both) this year to save his job. I think he's in a bigger hole now because he lost big to ND and to a power 5 conference opponent, feeding into the notion that he can't win big games, so I'm more in the camp that he needs to beat both to keep his job. Maybe he can drop another game and finish 9-3, but wins against our 2 biggest rivals will help get this sour taste out of our mouths and help restore some of our faith in the coaching staff. I think everyone needs to ease up on Hoke and if we're going to direct anger at anyone, it needs to land directly on Dave Brandon. He needs to go if this program is going anywhere. Who knows, maybe Hoke would be a better coach under a different AD. I don't know if I could focus and perform optimally with that a-hole breathing down my neck everyday.

Do not have the physical or mental fortitude to win on the road against Michigan State or Ohio State. This has been proven time and time and time again. If winning one of those games is truly what he needs to keep his job, he needs to update the resume and call the realtor now.

PAST PERFORMANCE IS NOT NECESSARILY INDICATIVE OF FUTURE RETURNS

Ever read anything like this before?

There is nothing I hate more than people who take this attitude -- no offense.

NOBODY knows what is going to happen, how the team will respond or set-up, yet you act like it's already a lose.  Pathetic.

Let me check.....

Regard any other sports talk radio information-type substance with extreme dubiousness. Outside of the friendly confines of WTKA, radio is worthless for news. That goes triple for some yob in East Lansing asserting that Greg Schiano is the next guy. Because he's the dude who will get the news first. Okay buddy.

Trust me because I don't ask you to trust me, and trust Sam because he's connected, and ignore all radio reports.

Oh....
