Oh boi. This is now a national spectacle. At the very least, all this humiliation, may force someones hand. Either the regents cleanign house, or DB canning Hoke to save his skin. Either way, probably a win win

Jerry Jones actually played football in college and was pretty good at it.  And for all his lunacy since then, he played a big role in revitalizing the Cowboys and building their '90's dynasty.

Jones is more like Al Davis, a guy with too much power and confidence who saw the game pass him by.  Dave Brandon is like if the guy running Burger King for the last 10 years got put in charge of a sports team.

Not that being slightly better than Jerry Jones in this regard is really anything positive, but I still would say that a Div. 1 Scout team player would have a better understanding of college football than a Div 1 starter would of NFL football.

I'm curious if Brandon is somehow the root of the problem with our football program right now.  Something just doesn't add up to me.  We have a head coach who is a terrific recruiter and who is the only high-profile head coach in America humble enough to actually defer to his (incredibly qualified) offensive and defensive coordinators.  We've had almost no attrition and no serious scandals, and I think the fans and media want to like Hoke and co. because they're such good guys.

It's probably a reach, because this is probably ultimately a story about player development or lingering roster issues or a Borges hangover or something, but I have this weird feeling that the program would be in much better shape right now - even with the same coaching staff - if Brandon had split awhile ago.

Im turned off by Bacon and his grandeur....  he comes across as sexually uptight... and he has paraded his Bo favoritism quite well...    but if he tries to undermine Brandon publicly on the radio, then F him.

So now you're reduced to trying to smear a journalist with completely unsubstantiated allegations that John U Bacon is having illicit relations with graduate assistants purely on the basis that some random asshole on the internet says they're hot.

He just got married, for fuck's sake.

First of all, the allegation isn't even true. He's had the same GSI for the last two years who is a women, but she was clearly chosen because of her background in and knowledge of college athletics. To say otherwise is completely ridiculous.

Secondly, John is definitely one of the top two professors I've had in three and a half years at Michigan. His knowledge of the school's athletic history and his passion for this University are second to nobody I've ever met. He's also incredibly candid and has far expanded on the hints he gives on the radio and in writing during his lectures and office hours. He is a totally reliable and knowegable source.
