Up in back....forever up in back

Submitted by mGrowOld on

I'm home now.  An hour or so at the post-game tailgate and then a three hour drive back to Northern Ohio.  The skin on my hands are cracked and bleeding from clapping as hard as i can and random high-fiving the people around me.  My voice is shot from screaming at the top of my lungs from noon until the last play of overtime.  My feet hurt from standing and jumping and slamming my feet into the plastic that masquerades as a seat in our stadium to make as much noise as I can.  I'm 51, and I gave everything I could give to the team from Section 5, row 30.  As I write this I'm smiling ear to ear and feeling good in a way that a win from a pro team could never deliver.

Games like today are why I come back to cheer on my alma mater year after year.....why I yell....why I STAND....and why I'm a Michigan fan - first, last and always no matter what their record is.

Go Blue-beat Purdue!

I sadly worked today and had to give up my tickets. But lets just say my work ethic was at an all time low listening to the game. All though I was sad not to be there, there is no one better than Frank and Brandy to listen to. Theres no better Saturday nights, than a Saturday night after a Michigan victory! Now lets go 7-3!

Sunday: Did Penn State really just do that to us?

Monday: How will we ever beat Illinois?

Tuesday: Floyd is out for the season? Shoot me now.

Wednesday: Are we really going to fire Rich Rod?

Thursday: No major violations? Maybe this week is getting better..

Friday: You know what? I have a good feeling about Illinois.

Saturday: This is the best game I have ever seen!!! (As Scheelhaase is getting sacked to win the game)

I remember that SI cover in your avatar well.  It was the August 1977 issue (maybe September), as I entered Michigan as a freshman. I doubt we knew each other, but it's nice to see a classmate still around.

Minnesota beating us 23-0 up at Memorial Stadium was the worst day of the fall.  I've still got pictures from OSU week and the game.  Great times.
