Back of the Scoreboard Update Please
Sorry to be OCD about this, but the Updated Scoreboard Diary has not been updated lately and it's been like 5 days since the latest picture of the scoreboard. So, I just can't take it any more and the suspens is killing me.
Does anyone on the ground in AA have updated pics of the back of the scoreboards, if they've started putting whatever logo on the back that they're going to put on it?

Last time I drove by, there were still just a couple patches of blue tile on the back. This was over the weekend. They're focused on finishing and testing the south scoreboard right now, as well as installing the speakers in the north.

thanks for the post..I was wondering the same thing...

In the meantime, they for some reason are taking some of the side panels off the front of the north scoreboard. See the webcam here.
Here's a screen shot with one of the panels being removed on a crane:

Yeah, I'm sure they're doing that to install the speakers.

But it doesn't make much sense to put them up if they knew they were going to have to take them down to install the speakers.

And from what I can see.... looks like a wolverine riding a rainbow unicorn dressed as a Block M (no split 'Michigan' of course) through Purgatory.
But what do I know, I'm sitting in an office in Lawnguyland.

On the cam, there is some guy walking on the top of the scoreboard...probably not a bad view. Takes big ones to do that.

Given Brandon's purge of the "Split M" from all Michigan branding, don't look for that to return to the back of the scoreboard. More likely it will just be painted with a huge, maize Block M. Works for me.

Yeah...I'm very excited about that. I've always felt the plain block M is cleaner and more classy. It's going to look great.

Now if only ea sports would follow suit in changing michigan's avatar in ncaa football

I wish I could +1,000,000 this. I HATE that. The standard block "M" is exponentially better than the "split M."

I just drove by 15 Minutes ago. The north scoreboard is still all blue paneling, but you can see an uncovered "M" shape on the back.
The south scoreboard is still completely uncovered on the back.

I will try to get there tomorrow for some more shots - but it did not look like any changes from the 8th when I took these:

The image quality is amazing. From the north end of the stadium - the south end scoreboard looked crystal clear.

Nice. And I like the term "wipped out". That's how I felt during our 2-6 slide to end the season...

Are the 2 scoreboards both this size? I realized it seems all photos are of one? I'm curious what the other end looks like right now
August 10th, 2011 at 6:39 PM ^
The two scoreboards are the same size. The Michigan Stadium Aerials site has some photos from a few days ago that show the front and back of both scoreboards.

A friend of mine was there the day they put up the maize panels. He said there was a lot of foul language and name calling indicating that hanging the maize panels, in fact, was not what the workers were supposed to be doing. The panels have since come down. I don't expect to see them until shortly before the WMU game.

Seems odd that they're installing lights on top of the boards. Isn't the scoreboard a light in its own right?

They are still working on the scoreboard and have not finished the back. Here are some photos today - will go back next week:
