Baalke statement....

Submitted by Rescue_Dawn on

"Baalke did confirm that the University of Michigan has approached the 49ers about hiring Harbaugh to fill their vacant coaching position. Multiple reports last week stated that Michigan, Harbaugh's alma mater, is offering him a six-year, $48 million deal."

This is my favorite part HAIL HACKETT!

""I think the University of Michigan, in reaching out, did handle it correctly," Baalke said. "As I look at it, guys, it's very simple: He's the head football coach of the San Francisco 49ers."

Last week when he was asked to give some reasoning about why he thought JH was staying in the NFL, he misused the term "could care less"  instead of "couldn't care less."  In response to being called out he responded by saying he preferred the former so he used it instead.  At this point i joined the twitters and said it makes sense given his preference for making stuff up.   In any event, I just went to check his twitter and he blocked me.

TL;DR?  This dude's a wuss and he blocked me on twitter...

First, that GIF is funny, but it is racist. Making fun of how Kawakami's name sounds like motorcycles is not so bad, just not all that funny.

Second, there's s whole lot of kawakami bashing on this board, just because he stated pretty much the EXACT SAME THING as everyone else not on this blog - that JH in his heart wants to be a NFL coach.

I want to say one thing before too many more people pile on with Buckeye-level humor:

In the Bay Area there are a few guys who follow, tweet and blog about the 49ers full time. Some of them have been very supportive of management's side in this split, relating anecdotes from "sources" about how abrasive Harbaugh is, how he demeans people he works with when they don't meet his standards, or don't side with him in every disagreement.

Kawakami has been the only one that I'm aware of stating that much of the problems stem from Baalke/York feeling JH gets "Too much" credit for the success an already strong roster has acheived under his watch. This is why a coach who took a team that hadn't been to the playoffs in about a decade to 3 straight NFC title games and a SB wasn't offered a raise or even an extension. Even if Kawakami's "source" is Harbaugh's agent, he's the only one running with this side of the story.

Amazingly the SF Chronicle wants no part of the whole situation, only acknowledging there may be a split after the loss to the Raiders (this even after York tweeted out about how embarrassed he was when the 49ers got whompled by Seattle on Thanksgiving). The Chronicle made a bigger deal of Baalke's daughter calling out OC Greg Roman!

Then the Chron ran the story with Jerry Hanlon that Brian quoted yesterday, suggesting Jim might be looking at Michigan. They've NEVER hinted that there might be a Harbaugh jump to Oakland, even though they have beat writers and columnists covering both teams.

I'm pretty sure there's truth to both sides in this dispute. The Apha-male clashing of Harbaugh/Baalke, the douchery of Jed York, the abrasiveness of Harbaugh when he doesn't get what he wants. But Tim Kawakami isn't the primary villain of this opera. And tasteless racist jokes do not make us look too good in it either!

While I can agree with a lot of the sentiment of your post, the vitriol towards Tim can best be summed up when he was saying Jim to Michigan would never happened, stated how Michigan fans would hate him, and was parading about how many Michigan fans he's blocked on Twitter. Then Jon Chair came forward and said, (paraphrasing) "Tim, many Michigan fans respect you and your writing, we are just asking what is backing your claims" to which Kawakami's response was "BLOCKED."

I can understand being against any racist undertones, overtones, or perceivedtones to criticism against him, but this guy isn't exactly a victim here

...before ominously adding, "...for now."

I don't know who none of these rasslers is, but I like you WD... always have, always will.

Picture GIF of Val Kilmer as Elvis in True Romance, cuz I don't know how to do that stuff, and will likely never take the time to learn. I think I'm just gonna start painting more "Word Pictures"

;-)))
