Now in the top of the 2nd, Betsa K's the first spartan hitter, and then walks the next batter on what was clearly a strike.
picks up a slow roller hugging the 3rd base line and FIRES it to first for the 3rd out. HELLUVA PLAY!!!
with a walk, but never advanced, as the next 3 hitters went down in order.
After 2 full innings, scoreless.
thru the first 2 innings (should have been 4, as that bad-call walk in the 2nd was on a full count).
Oh-ohhh...On yet another full count, she gives up the 1st spartie hit to start the 3rd. This followed by a long fly that appears to have bounced off the top of the fence, runner scores and the hitter goes to 3rd on the throw to home.
Not great Bob.
on that long spartan fly ball, and we're still scoreless. That ball just barely missed being caught...then the relay to the plate appeared to probably have been barely on time but popped out of our catcher's mitt....and then the throw to 3rd just a hair late.
Instead, State gets a pair of runs before Betsa settles back down.
Now msu 2-0 with the bottom of the third underway.
Michigan not hitting well through 3 innings. Bats need to wake up the next 4 innings.
as Abby Ramirez grounded out to end the 3rd after hitting a 2-hopper to the spartie 3rd baseman that never hit foul territory until bouncing off the spartan glove.
But no, we have yet to hit the ball very hard.
Betsa just mowed down spartie 1-2-3 in the top of 4, so we're back up. Need some hits!!!
Leadoff single off the right field wall by Faith Canfield, followed by a single to left by Falk.
Runners on 1st and 2nd, nobody down, Tera Blanco strides to the plate...
as Zewlewski takes a one-hopper and inexplicibly tosses Blanco out at 1st on what should have been a double play.
Need to take advantage of this. This inning could decide the game.
Sac fly by Uden brings in a run, now 2 down with a runner on 2nd BEGGING to come home.
C'mon, let's tie this up here! Mighty Lindsey at the plate...

Behind in the count 1-2, Monty worked the count to full before that RBI single, fouling off several pitches and taking an oh-so-close pitch right before her big hit.

Sparty seems more prepared for this game, more dialed in. Our fielding is looking somewhat suspect.
Megan gets a bit too frustrated with the ball-strike calls when she gets squeezed. And today she just doesn't look very sharp.
Right now, 2 down, runners at the corners as spartie follows with a hit and then a force out to 2nd.
....and a pop to Monty at 3rd for out #3, Megan and Michigan escape a big jam.
Still 2-2.

try to describe it, other than to say we' now trail 5-4 with still just one down and runners at 1st and 2nd.
Not a vintage Michigan team this year.
