B1G Soccer Title Game live on BTN Open Thread: Michigan vs state

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Michigan is in it's second B1G Tournament Championship game in three years. Michigan upset conference co-champion and number 2 seed northwestern on the home field, 3-0 on Friday. state upset conference co-champion and number 1 seed penn state 3-1 on Friday.

3 Michigan vs 5 state for the B1G Tournament Championship. Michigan ruined state's chance at the outright B1G Championship on the final day of the regular season, beating state at home 1-0 for the Bear.

The Big Bear trophy is not up for grabs in postseason games. Instead, a more important trophy is on the line. Let's hope Michigan takes that one home this year as well.

Game begins at 1pm and will be live on BTN.

This game is extremely important beyond the B1G championship game. As of Nov 6th, Michigan is 28th in RPI and MSU is 60th. With a win over Wisconsin (82nd) and Northwestern (41st) in the B1G tournament, a loss today would probably keep Michigan's RPI ranking around 28th next week. With 26 teams getting at large bids (22 auto qualify), Michigan should be in regardless, while MSU has to win to have a chance.

A win and an autobid is still extremely important for Michigan, because a win would improve their draw significantly, possibly putting them in a seeded position (with a first round bye) and definitely getting HFA for the first game.

And if there's some way to watch it--signing up with btn. for Michigan sports this month has been a total bust for me, starting with them losing the basketball feed on Friday. I see nothing about the game either at mgoblue or at btn.com.

Not surprised that it's down 1-0 (with 6 more minutes to go). The wind is so bad against Michigan that you must bet most Wolverine players are out of breadth. Let's hope to see a comeback in the second half like the one the Football team did yesterday!

This is pretty ridiculous.  MSU has wasted probably 4 minutes in the second half trying to set up a free kick, watching it roll back, setting it up again, letting a throwin roll away from the them, etc.

This is not a rant on time-wasting because every team in the lead does it.  But the weather is legitimately shortening the game, which is unfortunate when you're the team losing.

It sucks that the wind was such a factor - and really weird having to reset the ball so often because the wind made it roll.  Good effort to get to OT.  I hate losing to STAEE twice in a weekend.
