B1G Hockey Championship Game

Submitted by Canadian on

The pregame show is on, the beer is cold, its Saturday night now lets win this fucking thing and get back in the big tournament.

whats on the line: Michigan NEEDS to win to make it into the NCAA Tournament. Minnesota will make the tournament with a win and have a strong chance of advancing even with a loss (it is NOT a given as there is one scenario where they could be left out).

this game will come down to goaltending. Racine needs to keep up his good play at the Joe but Michigan will need to keep the pressure on Wilcox (who looked like the Wilcox of old last night with the shutout against Ohio State) and fight for the rebounds in the crease.

I'm not going to bring up the running theme of these threads thursday and friday because we all get it and expected it.

WIN THE GAME!!!

Trying not to be biased but it really did sound like they were hoping we'd lose. I mean declaring "Goodbye Michigan!" instead of something like "There's your winner for Minnesota!" or something seems to be showing your rooting interests

we tied it at 3-3 and there's maybe 3 minutes left.  but the next posts are of us losing and an empty-netter to ice it.  where/when/how did minny get a 4th goal?

The team played hard tonight, but I continue to wonder when was the last time Michigan truly won a critical game. Since losing in the National Championship game, it seems when all the marbles are really on the line, Michigan keeps coming up short no matter how hard they play. Sigh...

We're an at-large if we take care of business against OSU/PSU/MSU (Three Bad Teams)

Are any of the defensive recruits coming in supposed to be good? We need help badly back there. Lohan getting big minutes says more about our lack of talent there than it says about anything he's doing.

Being more experienced should help Martin and Werenski.  Werenski being 18 and having a year of college hockey should hopefully make him a real #1 like Reilly is.  Then I think Martin can be a solid two, Downing can hopefully cut down on his mistakes and maybe do some yardwork for the refs to get himself off their shitlist.  That's a solid group.  Forwards should remain ridiculous, assuming the Wings don't behave out of character.

Ah well.  They gave it a solid try, but when you get swept by PSU and split with MSU, to say nothing of other mishaps this past month or so, this type of heartbreak occurs.  Hopefully this is the impetus needed for some real change in the hockey program, whether it be this year or next.

Downing hit microcosm of the year. Flashy, looks great, but terrible discipline. Why you go for a big hit in a 3 on 2 is completely beyond me. It may be stating the obvious, but something is wrong with the way the team plays and their mentality.

Sucks. We go 3 lines deep with dangerous forwards, have the #1 offense in the country and we're sitting at home. What a waste of a really rare combination of offensive talent

And how much does it suck to lose Hyman. He was really making the step from "Freakin good" to Unstoppable and now it's over

Good luck in the league
