B1G Hockey added to NBCSN Lineup

Submitted by lilpenny1316 on

Don't know if anyone saw this, but NBC Sports Network has agreed to a deal to carry five Big Ten hockey games.  All six B1G teams will be on the network at least once.

This is our only appearance:

Feb. 1, 6:30 p.m. ET Wisconsin vs. Michigan

Interestingly, Wisconsin will be on the network three times.

Also more TV news, the Friday night game at UNO will be on CBS Sports and the New Hampshire series will be on Fox College Sports.

There is a lot of Big Ten hockey on TV this season. I'm not going to take the time to crunch the amount of games televised nationally vs what the CCHA/WCHA had but it has to be way more.

I still fear what this whole change means for the small schools. The BTHC is rolling but division 1 hockey can't be just 6 teams. Hopefully we all get more TV and more cash...and more Canadians

I wonder what the possibility would be if this whole NCAA situation falls through that McGill University and University of Toronto would be able to come to the B1G ?

The Toronto market is MASSIVE and with hockey and lacrosse (the official sport of Canada in winter and spring respectively) looking to become more prevalent athletics for this conference I think we could get some serious views there and in Montreal.

have been floated around as members but that's a vastly bigger hurdle than Johns Hopkins to B1G Lacrosse was. They're international and not even NCAA members right now (I believe SImon Fraser is the only Canadian NCAA school). Would be a sweet idea, but I think this is about as likely as Texas to the Big Ten is

The comments mention that ESPN will have a few as well from the Big Ten, although none of ours. The conference TV schedule - current as of yesterday - is on the BTN site here (LINK). ESPNU and ESPNEWS will have a few games as well.
