B1G Championship Game Tickets/Lucas Oil Stadium info
For those who don't know, tickets for the B1G Championship Game went on sale today at 10:00 AM. In case M makes it in, buy them up now! Worst case scenario is we don't make it in and sell for a profit because the face-value tickets are going to be sold out soon.

I bought 4 in section 528. For anyone who has been, how are these tickets and the venue in general?
Also, does anyone know how the B1G plans on splitting the Legends/Leaders (ugh) fan bases, if at all? There was no guide on where to buy tickets, but I've seen split stadiums at other conference championship games.

As soon as you posted this I tried to buy tickets and they were already sold out. I am sure Stub Hub bought some up, fucking heartless bastards. These big events pretty much exclude the working class fan. It turns into a big corporate tax write off with a bunch of people in a stadium with no rooting interest for either team playing.
is where i got 4 tickets at 9:10 central...so my guess is they went fast.
Does anyone know if you automatically qualify for tickets in years to come by getting them in the first year?

Pearl Jam had the right idea when they went to war with Ticket Master in the 90's. Ticket agencies are evil.
As an Indy resident Ive been in Lucas Oil a couple times. Best of which was the '10 AFC championship game between the Colts and Jets. I think its a really awesome stadium and is in the heart of the downtown area which is great. I might try to find tickets on the day of .
On my screen it looks like you can still buy some. Try this website. Ticket master is sold out, but you can still get them. Also, SEcetion 528 is in one of the endzones, about halfway up. Lucas Oil is a solid stadium, it reminds me of a basketball arena in that it goes up, very quickly. I've only been twice, and both times I was in a suite with Jim Irsay, (a good friend is dating his daughter...JACKPOT, ha!) so I'm not sure what it is like to watch from the bleachers, but because of the rapid elevation increase it is pretty easy to see the whole field once you get about 10 rows up.
Downtown Indianapolis has great places to eat, drink, and sleep very close by, I believe that was one of the deciding factors as far as where to host the game, all within walking distance.
The game sold out in 34 minutes. Buying tickets for this year guarantees that you will have comprable seats for next year. I have 4 in section 627, 2 in section 628, and 2 in section 419. I feel as though Colt season ticket holders bought out the lower bowl because I was talking with an agent at 10:04 and there was nothing in the 100s, 200s, or 300s
how does this guarantee anything for next year? I got 2 in 640, but didn't read anything about next year.

General public tickets for the inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game went on sale at 10 a.m. ET this morning and were completely sold out within two hours. An additional 15,000 tickets will be made available to each institution once participating teams are determined.
The 2011 Big Ten Football Championship Game will begin at 8:17 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and will be televised by FOX Sports. Those individuals who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster or the Lucas Oil Stadium ticket office for the 2011 Big Ten Football Championship Game will have the opportunity at a later date to purchase tickets in a comparable location for the 2012 game. In addition, every Big Ten Football Championship Game ticket includes a ticket to Big Ten Fan Fest, to be held at the Indiana Convention Center from 10 a.m. ET until kickoff.
The Big Ten Football Championship Game will feature the champion of the Legends Division facing the champion of the Leaders Division, with the winner earning the Big Ten Championship and a chance to play in either the Rose Bowl Game or Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game.
The Big Ten Conference and Indiana Sports Corporation have entered into an agreement to host Big Ten Football Championship Games at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis through 2015. FOX Sports will serve as the official broadcast partner of the Big Ten Football Championship Games through 2016.
I would presume that the Conference would withhold LOTS of tickets from early-sales, to be made available to the two schools who make it into the Championship Game. Anybody know the details on what is and is not being sold at this time?
If the only way that I could ever go to a Michigan game was by dealing with StubHub, I think I would give it up entirely.
that are frankly forever away from the field. It's a great new stadium, but the upper levels can be a bit too far away. The Big House remains the best stadium no matter where you're sitting. It's pretty cool, though living in Indy and knowing that we have a B1G Championship and a Super Bowl all in the same year.
The thing I like most about Lucas Oil is that you can look into the staduim right from the entrance. The Lobby isn't surrounded by concrete or steel, it's open to the field. The other cool thing about it is you can see from your seats when the traffic leaving has cleared.

Now you can get bent over by a knockoff version of StubHub!
stubhub is cheaper than that site. Stub Hub only charges a 15% service fee whereas that site was charging 23% plus $15 for shipping versus $11.95 at stub hub. Don't get me wrong I can't stand stub hub but it is individual sellers that charge the prices not the site.
Those prices are way too steep! It's likely NOT official site, but some site made out to look like it is.
That site is no different than Stub Hub. It is not affiliated with Lucas Oil Stadium. Face value was $50-125. The game is sold out.
I don't know how I got redirrected from the Lucas Oil Homepage to there, and I see now that the prices are up. I apologize for the misinformation. Still, you can get your tickets there and some of the prices are still somewhat reasonable.
Yeah, I have been searching for some decent seats and can't find anything under 700$. I have no desire to pay 200$ to watch a game from 2 miles away.
as one other person mentioned there are probably more tickets set aside for the two schools that make it. this was more for the general public. I am sure we won't even know about those tickets until mid Nov. just an assumption but one I would bet on
I was on the TM website @ 9:59-10:00 this morning and I still had to wait over 20 minutes for my place in line to go through. I ended up with 4 tickets in 632....not great but more or less I did it for the purpose of always being able to repurchase those seats next year, figured it would be an investment and even if prices only go up to $120-150 a ticket I'm making $400 in profit.
Was there something released that actually said you get first crack at those tickets next year, or are you just assuming that you will?
Big Ten posted that if you buy tickets this year, you will have opportunity to buy seats again next year. I would imagine those rights will expire IF they change venue...either way I was fortunate enough to get 4 in the upper deck on the 30 us line. Now if Hoke and the team can do their part!

and waited about 15 minutes and then was informed there was nothing available. Adding to my annoyance was that I signed up for notifications from the Big Ten several months ago. I got an emal about 2 weeks ago saying that tickets would go on sale at some unspecified time at the end of July, and that I would be notified of the exact time in advance of the sale. That second notice never came. I only knew from threads on this blog.
Am I way off base wishing the B1G would buy up all the tickets being resold on Stubhub-esque sites and put lifetime bans on the people who bought them just to resell them in the first place?
Did you know that Michigan and Stubhub just agreed to a partnership for reselling tickets?
Which reminds me of the of conspiracy theories about Cubs tickets and the secondary market. Something along the lines of how when the Cubs were owned by the Tribune, which also owned StubHub or something comparable, several thousand Cubs tickets were never really on the market to begin with, they went directly to the secondary market. Who knows how much truth there is to it.
Let me preface this by saying that now I have season tickets and donate to the Victor's Club so if Michigan goes to the B1G Championship, I am sure I will be offered tickets. I do remember what it was like to want to go to a game, and think, "How the hell am I supposed to be able to afford $250 a ticket for an OSU game."
However, what is the difference between buying and reselling tickets versus buying and reselling anything else (i.e. stocks, mutual funds, currency, houses/land, an antique car, or anything else that you hope to resell and make a profit.) Maybe, I am crazy but I think there are only 6 or 7 states left that enforce scalping laws and Michigan is one of them, but Indiana definitely is not on that list. Notre Dame has been policing their own tickets for quite some time now, and they still have a hard time doing it. StubHub protects the identity of the seller's, and for good reason because they are the lifeblood of the company.
I think StubHub is the future of ticket purchasing, and ticketmaster will be out of business in 20 years, because they missed the boat. It wouldn't surprise me at all if companies like StubHub worked out a legal agreement with universities and sports franchises to at least purchase all single game tickets and assume the risk and liability for those tickets (i.e. selling them at a loss or profit, or not selling them at all).
