B10 Hockey Tournament

Submitted by SamirCM on

Is anyone here planning on traveling to the Twin Cities for the tournament? I'll unfortunately be out of town when UM comes here to play the Gophers but will be back in time for the tournament.

Would love to know which section to look for tickets in.

Is it just a coincidence it's in Minneapolis or does the regular season champ host the tournament?

You could make a strong case for Pittsburgh, sure.  Ideally a something-'town' should combine fan passion with near unmatched success.  Pittsburgh has Bradshaw, Swann, Webster, and 6 Super Bowls. Of course, Green Bay has 13 world titles along with Lombardi, Starr, Favre, Hornung, etc.  But I digress.

I'm sure Buffalo has very passionate fans, but no Cups and no legends that I'm aware of outside of Hasek, who won his only cup with-you guessed it- the boys from Hockeytown USA.

BLUF, in my opinion, unmatched success+passion= earning a something 'town' nickname.  You also have to claim the name first.

I don't know if they made any effort to keep fans of each team together; I got tickets through Ticketmaster, so I assume there won't be dedicated fan sections. There didn't seem to be any when I placed my order.

Helpful hint:  On Saturday, The Wild host the Red Wings at 1:00 (Central Time) and the Big Ten Championship final is at 7:00.  It will be a perfect day to enjoy a nice doubleheader of hockey teams from southeast Michigan beating hockey teams from Minnesota.

I am heading up there Thursday (was hoping we would be the 2 seed and get the bye...)  Hopefully Michigan takes care of business in the likely 3vs.6 matchup, then would get Wisconsin during the day Friday.

Saturday, the Wings play at the Wild during the day, with the B1G Championship game at night in the same rink.  Should be a glorious few days of hockey!!
