B10 Bowling So Far + Sat. Night Drinking

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

B10 is 2-1 so far in bowls with PSU pulling out an OT win vs. BC.   Nebraska is tied with USC 10-10 in the Holiday bowl.  The Holiday Bowl might take the cake as having the best reputation for thrilling bowl games too.   That stadium (Qualcomm/Jack Murphy) was one of my favorite places to play - good facilities, field usually well kept, and fun to visit San Diego.

It's also Saturday night and we are quietly and expectantly celebrating a new coach, the coach we all want.   We are done with barn chores and I am drinking a glass of Blackstone Merlot, inexpensive and built to stay that way.

Blessings to you all on the cusp of 2015.  Here's to hoping we all have one more fantastic gift to open before the New Year.

year in a law enforcement/public safety league.  the games were for charity and we played anywhere from 6-9 per year.   they were against other police and fire departments of major metro areas such as LAPD, LAFD, NYPD, FDNY, Dallas, Miami, Houston, etc.   Our starters and most of the teams we played were made up of former pro and college players, most games were televised, and we raised alot of money over the years.  by way of example, we would sell 30-35k tickets in san diego.

lots of fun and you appreciate it alot more the second time around.   we raised i don't know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities too, over the length of my career (played til i was 42 when we came back home to michigan).

I picked the Big Ten to lose every game because of my spite fullness of all things bad with Michigan. Now that itshappeningdotgif, I'm not so spiteful. Go Big except for a certain team playing Bama.

To anyone who gives a #@%& that it's a Charles Woodson venture I highly recommend grabbing a bottle of the Sauvignon Blanc. It's great for being California (I prefer New Zealand and Chile for Sauvignon Blancs) and won't break the bank for $20. As of three weeks ago they had it stocked at Plum Market in Ann Arbor.

I gifted a bottle of the Cabernet and am waiting to hear feedback when they drink it, but Wine Spectator just put the most recent vintage in their top 100.

I agree.. I'd like a win in the playoff just for B10 sake. More importantly I'm drinking a Laughing Dog Bourbon Barrel aged DogFather. 22oz/10.85abv/6bucks. Can't beat that ABV/$$$ ratio

Going cheap because I have to make lunch for guests tomorrow and I really don't need to be too out of sorts between Big Ten success in bowls and Harbaugh news. Just a simple Sutter Home White Merlot for the moment, slowly sipping that and enjoying the Holiday Bowl so far. It's definitely not the best wine, but for purposes of hanging about and watching football while contemplating what the hell tomorrow's menu will be, it serves.

Wow Nebraska's defense keeping them in this... Lack of accurate downfield Qbs was Pelini's downfall at NU. Once it becomes 3rd & 8+, no way Armstrong can throw his way out of it.

B1G 2-1, this Neb-USC game is pretty entertaining. I hope Neb can stay with them, going to be a shootout. I have the Keweenaw Pick axe blonde flowing with some Hoffbrau hefeweisen as well.

Go huskers. A loss against a B1G team can only help us with TJ Wheatley.

Per Sam Webb, M is not high on his list at the moment. USC looks to be out front. And while the new coach is most important to other prospective recruits, young Wheatley appears most concerned with the quality of the other recruits coming in with him.

punching above it's weight class.   i do like it, but for me it qualifies as fancy.   i think we need to plant vines on the south side of the farm and try growing some decent red and white.  we've got the sun and the soil, but we are a bit far from the big lake for the weather to work out right.

as long as they are facing south.  then you need soil conditions (more sandy than you'd think) and to stay away from temperature extremes.   i have the place here at the farm marked out in my mind.  start with less than an acre and experiment.   we'll see.  would be fun.

and where do you fish in east bay, does the boardman run through there at it's southern portion?
