Ayacucho M-Friendly Bars?
Hey guys,
I am going to be staying in the Residencia on the corner of Av Del Deporte and Indepencia in Ayacucho this weekend and I am looking for an M-friendly bar to take in the PSU game. Anybody know of one? The town is about 5 clicks south by southwest of Machu Picho.
TIA,
Dudeness

I'll never figure out who you are if you keep skipping local watch parties.

I will be at the watch party...

I've always wanted to see Machu Picchu. I am hoping that, once my daughter is old enough that we can have her stay with relatives or something for a week or so, to convince my wife to go with me on one of those backpacking hikes through the jungle to the ruin. By then, of course, I should be able to get the Michigan games via direct sattelite feed on my iPad 12.0.

I think you'll like it...

aberna Magía Negra
Lonely Planet review for Taberna Magía Negra
A bar-gallery with good local art, beer and pizza – plus great music.

One of the old favorites to watch Michigan Football games in Ayachucho. A couple years ago I was there and ran into Lloyd Carr just outside. We talked for a little while about Ann Arbor, and how Ayachucho was the second best place to catch a Michigan game, outside of the big house of course, and maybe Thimphu. It's a close tie between Ayachucho and Thimphu for second, honestly. Both are obviously major hubs for the Maize crazed, and have two of the biggest UM Alumni Associations in the worlds, but there are just more bars devoted to Michigan in Ayachucho than in Thimphu, which gives it the edge in my book.
Edit: I ran into a drunk Gary Moeller once in Wales, he was looking for a sword in a lake or restaurant or something. I'm honestly not sure.

my first year working in the suites (also first year the suties were used) gary moeller was at every home game in the alro steel suite... every game gary was either drunk or decently buzzed to the point that i had to point him in the direction of the bathroom at least 2 or 3 times a game...
other things i saw up there that year was a very pissed off dave brandon on multiple occasions, the worst being the state and wisky games... bill martin once looked like he was going to break down out in the hallway during the wisky game, you could see the "why did i hire this guy" look on his face...

You've been here for three years and you're really not sure if His Dudeness is being serious?
Are you being serious?

Tell Eduardo Sanchez that you want to watch futbol americano, specifically Los Glotones...Do not look anyone in the eye who is playing pool. Offer a small gift of meat to the eagle that guards the bathroom. Not not tip the waitresses with cocaine, as they will take offense. Do not speak kindly of Francisco Pizaro. Try the cheese fries.

...usually comes with a Miss the Michigan Game Pass. Or didn't your travel agent provide that?

They're hooking the ruins at Machu Picchu up with WiFi, so you should have pretty good service to stream it from there. The password is hard to get from the locals though, and it's in Quechuan. A local may be willing to give it to you, but you'll have to bribe them with an alpaca.

Machu Pichu is going to have better wi-fi than Michigan Stadium?
Fire Dave Brandon.

I'm actually going to be in Cusco on November 9, prior to hiking the Inca Trail into Machu Picchu, so I will have to hope for an internet connection to see the Nebraska game. I'm going down there with a friend whose mother is from Ayacucho. I know there's actually a place to watch American football in Lima, but I'll have to learn "Where is the Michigan Game Shown?" in Quechua.

I am envious. I saw one of the better preserved Mayan sites in Guatemala a couple of years ago, and it was so fantastic that it made me want to make it to Machu Picchu (Inca, not Maya, I realize) come hell or high water at some point in my life.

Wow that is genuinely awesome.
This post was just a dumbshit-esue "I don't know how to use google" post. I thought of the furthest off the map place possible and still google found me a bar... imagine that.
But your story is genuinely CSB and have a blast and be safe, etc.

I loved Cusco, great city. They speak Spanish there, so you don't actually need to speak Quechua. Check out Huayna Picchu if you have time. Beautiful view and great climb.

I would love to visit Huayna Picchu also, but not sure we'll have the opportunity. Apparently we need three days just to get used to the altitude. I read "Turn Right at Machu Picchu" a couple months ago, and it made me want even more to do the trail and to visit Huayna Picchu as well.

I actually spent three weeks in Ayacucho in May 2010 volunteering at an orphanage. Although I was not there during football season I can guarantee that you will not find a bar to watch the game, however there are many internet cafes you can find to livestream the game.

I watched the Final 4 in Cuzco. There are two different bars that can hook you up. They are right next to each other on the second floor overlooking the Plaza de Armas. One has a biker motif and the other is more generic.
