Avoid BTN this week (O-state week)

Submitted by steve sharik on

A little head's up:  It's OSU week on the BTN this week.  Good week to avoid.  Plenty of football games of them beating us ('74, '79, '06) but no hoop games (FU Evan Turner).

Every time that I've seen the BTN on the guide this summer, I die a little inside knowing that it's not September yet.

edit: What? I can't wait for football to start. That's all I'm sayin. I literally dreamt that we beat UConn on a last second miraculous play in true Forcier fashion (like that one on his high school highlight reel where he's falling down and lobs it to the receiver).

Rewatching the '06 game would only be the 2nd most painful hour of television I watched this summer behind "The Decision."

For me, 2006 pales in comparison to the 1979 loss. That's an entirely personal thing, I admit. It stems from the fact that the '79 game was the first Ohio State game I saw in person, and the fact that I was 14 at the time. Despite being a big underdog and being outplayed for most of the game, we might have pulled off an upset if Brian Virgil could have gotten off of a punt in the fourth quarter.

On the bright side, these threads keep reminding me that I need to pay Rogers the extra $9.99 a month for the BTN.

(By the way, people watched that? I'd rather have watched Twilight. Watching Twilight would be slightly preferable to stabbing my eyes with a fork.)

I didn't become a Michigan fan until my senior year of high school when I decided to attend Michigan for college since I have no family connections to either the college or the state. That was in early November 2006 (arrived on campus in 2007). OSU-UM #1 vs #2 was literally the first game I watched as someone committed to the University. Needless to say the games in the 70's were before my time. In terms of "The Decision" I watched it mostly because nothing else was on TV and I'm too lazy to do something besides plop on my couch and watch TV during weeknights. While it was painful to watch, it was only an hour so it has that going for it compared to Twilight. Also, nobody died watching The Decision unlike that New Zealander who died during Twilight.

I appreciate the heads up, thank you.

In other BTN news, on their ondemand programming, you can watch Henne and Co. versus Sparty in 2007.  It is a morale booster to say the least.
