I saw the link to a video of just the first hit at http://mgorecruit.blogspot.com/ and then saw this video which includes a few more plays. Would love to see him in maize and blue.

Avery can certainly bring the wood. Imagine Walls, CJ, Cullen and Mrob patroling the secondary. Avery COME TO MICHIGAN!!

hell probably need to add some weight if he wants to be as effective with the big hits at the college level. but its always nice to see a db who can both hit and wrap up. on the downside, iv read that his overaggressivness in run support sometimes causes him to get out of position on playactions. but obviously this is something that can be corrected with experience and coaching

i like his potential at kovacs current position. althou im sure were all hoping that marvin robinson can excel at that role

Anyone who has the speed, athleticism, and versatility to play the corner should be playing deep safety, IMO. Walls seems to me like Cam Gordon, just with more speed, and a few inches shorter..

his measureables might suggest deep safety, but im not so sure his skill set does. i like the idea of having him up in run support. plus his greatest weakness, from what iv read, is in man coverage, which may or may not apply to his deep-route coverage abilities.

My assessment was based on skill set, not measurables, hence "a few inches shorter." Yes, he does make a few nice hits in his highlight reels, but remember that they're against 150 pound high school running backs, quarterbacks, and wide receivers. He won't be as physically dominant in college (yes I know he played hockey and is aggressive and what not). I hadn't actually heard the man coverage thing, but if that's true, then it would make more sense to play him deep. Kovacs, at bandit, will sometimes be charged with shadowing TEs/slot receivers. At deep safety, all he has to do is read, react, and demolish, which I think plays very well to his skill set.

And just the hit now...

That is ridiculous! How many strips/forced fumbles did he cause that night?

Seriously, this looks more like a season highlight, not an individual game. The kid's definitely a stud

It's pretty funny to see the other team throw his way. Dude at receiver must have been thinking "uh,so like, wtf" when his QB made the throws. He didn't seem to want any part of it. Nice, job, Avery. Come on up to The Big House.

our continued secondary problems aren't so bad. They are FORCING big recruiting at these positions (CB, Safety, and any LB's that might drop into coverage). We can't keep whiffing. It's just not possible. Sooner or later, all of this lousiness is going to result in the most DOMINATING backfield in college football. The kind that breaks receivers in two and then outscores the offense to boot.

Definately has a LB mentality, I kind of like the fact that he is a feared hitter more than a blazer. If I am a WR I'd tend to always keep my head on a swivel and make sure I locate that guy pre-play, and hope my QB doesn't hang me out to dry and get posterized by Walls.
