If you have oon, you don't need oon.  If you need oon, you don't have oon.  If you have oon, you need more oon.  If you have more oon, you don't need less oon.  You need oon to get oon, and you certainly need oon to get more oon.  But if you don't already have oon to begin with, you can't get oon to get started, which means you really have no idea how to get oon in the first place, do you?  You can share oon, sure; you can even stockpile oon if you'd like.  But you can't fake oon.  Wanting oon, needing oon, wishing for oon . . . the point is, if you've never had any of oon, ever, people just seem to know.

What, or who is he going "home" to?  He's lost both parents correct?  My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to this kid, and I hope like hell, despite what ever happens to him athletically, that he ends up on our campus.

"What, or who is he going "home" to?"

Ouch. Are you going to kick him in the nuts too, or are you saving that for Christmas? I realize you're not trying to be mean, but man... I don't think there's a more horrible question to ask.

I know his family has kept his progress relatively under wraps, and I respect their desire for privacy, but does anyone have more insight as to Austin's condition? It'd be nice to know if he's walking under his own power, or still immobilized, etc. Hope the best for the kid. Go Blue.

A few months ago, the language in these updates was so guarded it was hard to know what might be happening with Austin. It's SO fantastic that things have progressed so far that it's clear he's on the road to a very substantial recovery. What a great gift! Get well, young man.

I hope that U of M honors his scholarship even if he never plays a game for the wolverines. If honoring his scholarship prevented us from signing a player that would win us a national championship, then so be it.

Some things are worth more than accolades and glory.

I really hope they are somehow able to give him a medical scholarship if he is diagnosed as being physically incapable of playing. Obviously, as I stated earlier, even if this is not the case, I hope our school has the integrity to say, "even though you suffered a horribly catastrophic injury that renders you incapable of playing college basketball, we offered you a scholarship and we accepted said commit before you were able to step on campus. So, we will honor said scholarship and grant you a top tier education, even if you are unable to medically compete in college athletics."

This may be a tad bit idealistic of me, but fuck it all, THIS IS MICHIGAN FERGODSAKES!

Here's the thing, man, nothing's official at this time.  The school can hand out scholarships to whoever it wants for whatever reason.  They're the ones collecting tuition.  All someone has to do is sign off on it.  There doesn't have to be a category.  The NCAA doesn't have to be involved, he can just be a regular student that the school chooses to award a scholarship to.

And I don't hope they will, I know they will, basketball or no.  Guarantee it.

I was honestly wondering the same thing, it is a horrible question yes, but a very interesting one. So sad..Can't imagine a kid roughly my age without parents..shit sucks..
