Sam Webb has been posting some stuff lately that suggests that Michigan might have a real shot again with Solomon. I wonder why?

*checks Michigan and Georgia*

Michigan is 7-0 and #2 in the country, while Georgia is 4-3 with a loss to Vanderbilt and behind Kentucky in the East standings*. I see why now.

*It's true, you can check.

and Cristobal is a monster d-line coach. At the very least, he is AS good as Mattison, with less swag. The thing I would point out though is this...Hand is in his 3rd year and is coming off the bench, still...as a 5 star prospect.  He rarely played as a frosh, has 36 tackles and 7 sacks in 2.5 years.   Most of his frosh plays were in garbage time, and even then he didn't get a lot of burn.   Harbaugh is doing things TOTALLY different, and kids notice.  They want to play, even if they aren't the BEST defensive end in the country.

If you're going to fire a coach that gets you 9-11 wins every year because you want to take that next step, you'd damn well better hire a coach with a proven track record of getting to that next step.  Not a guy who's never been a head coach before.

I, like you, am happy that they're struggling and hope it continues.  And I hope Miami does well under Richt.

Agree totally.  I have always liked Richt and thought Georgia canning him would turn out to be a big mistake.  Maybe its me but everytime I see things going bad for Georgia and Kirby Smart I envision some twangy banjo music going on in the background and Kirby yelling out in the thickest of southern accents an "Awww shucks...."  or a "Dang nab it...."   Maybe its his name I dont know, I know nothing about him other than his resume but I just picture him as being an idiot.

UGa will rue the day they canned Richt.  The guy was a good head coach, class, made few waves, and only won at a 0.740 clip (including 9-3 the year he was fired...in the ESS EEE SEE no less).  I'm not saying Smart won't turn things around, but it seems the chickens are coming home to roost.

Reminds me of Nebraska canning Frank Solich after going 9-3 ("mediocrity"), and spending the next 15 years in the wilderness of irrelevancy.
