Brandon's marketing skills are embarrassingly bad. He should of stayed at Domino's. Leading a brand people actually care about is so not for him.

Weird, because I think he's made an overwhelmingly positive impact at Michigan so far -- even if there are a couple minor "gaffes" (bumblebee uniformz, this potentially).

If they didn't say "new tradition" this wouldn't bother me at all.  Just play it on the board and don't make a big deal about it.

How does this tie into marketing?

These will be video clips played on the videoboard of players saying LETS GO and the crowd will yell BLUE.

Kind of lame and pro sportsy to me.

It's a pure marketing move. Marketing and advertising aren't synonymous. He's trying to reinforce the brand with fewer slogans. Let's Go Blue is evidently the one they've chosen. Look for elimination of Go Blue in correspondence.

as much as car lot sales skills complete with loud obnoxious ads, stupid theme music on the muzak and the phone system, the shiny red white and blue penant flags between light poles, balloons and misleading big price tags on the cars in the lot and sharks hanging around outside the door.

I actually quit calling on one of my top 20 accounts when their lead started sending me In The Big House youtube links (Pop Evil right?), with simple headers like "stoked" and "isn't this awesome?" . One e-mail said "did you here them play this in the big house Saturday? " Here. Pop Evil. Yes, I still take their orders, because I'm a professional whore.

devin, maybe in the tunnel prior to running out or the team and they yell "let's go", crowd yells blue, until it loud enough then they run out I would love that.

Yep. Good cheers are organic and spontaneous. Or stolen from Cornell. They don't come from video boards or sports marketing gurus.

But Hunter Lochman doesn't come from a universe where organic things happen. Neither does Dave Brandon. Change happens because they thought of something we need, even if we really don't need it. We're stuck with this shit.

It's our star player trying to get the crowd involved. You know, the crowd that is so quiet that there's a thread here bitching about "blue hairs" every month? It's not an advertisement, it's not Pop Evil. There's a lot of worse things that other programs put on their screens. Is it corny? Yeah, but is it such a crime to put our charismatic star on the screen to try to pump up the crowd?

and the cheering will take care of itself.

Devin seems like a good guy with a head on his shoulders. Why drag him into this embarrassing shit?

Bricker bracker firecracker.
