ASU commit OT Jarrett Patterson offered by UM, Visiting 9 Dec.
Looks like Jarrett Patterson, 4-star OT, 6'5", 285 lbs is seriously considering Michigan.
He played LT @ Mission Viejo H.S.
So I guess that means a "Patterson Squared Weekend" in Ann Arbor 9 December.
Herm Edwards announced as ASU coach today 4 December. I think it's a good decision for Jarrett to consider other options.

ASU still in it, UCLA and Michigan.
January decision?

The explanation is it's one of the dumbest, most childish types of posts on this board, and that's saying a lot. Next would be "user name checks out" or whatever the fuck that is. When Brian said he had to ban hammer a dozen or so accounts after our loss to OSU I had hoped that it would have purged those posters at the same time, I was wrong.

"User name checks out" is the board equivalent of "that's what she said": Funny about 1 in 20 times, boring to stupid the other 19 times.

this actually happens in Unix file systems. you can delete a file, but if you have an already open file handle to it, you can still write to it. Those blocks are literally "in" the file, but "after" the delete.

I hate Unix... if I delete a file, the OS should not hold on to its image. It should be gone. Shouldn't have to restart things to get the file back immediately. Also, if it's open, don't allow the delete (stupid rm /*/oradata/prod/*.dbf when I meant test. Yes it happened. Yes, I was able to recorver it completely as the redologs and archived logs were safe. And yes my face was white as a ghost when I did it...)

Here I just posted news about:
1. Confirmed UM offer
2. Confirmed visit to Ann Arbor
3. He is a 4-star LT, not a 3-star, according to 247.
I consider that incremental information.
Maybe I'm missing something.

I don't know, I'd still say Grant Newsome, Taylor Lewan and Jake Long are the ideal left tackle size and shape.

6'5 is plenty big to play tackle.
Now 6'4" is pushing it...
December 5th, 2017 at 7:40 AM ^
So 6'5" is "plenty big," but 6'4" is "pushing it." Where's the dividing line between the two? 6'4 1/2"? Is that where it's "just big enough without pushing it"?

According to the official roster, Cole, Ulizio, and Hudson are 6'5", Honigford and JBB are 6'6", and Newsome and Stueber are 6'7". Nicholas Petit-Frere is 6'6".
Skrepenak was one of the largest OL ever to play at M; hey look I just found an old SI article about his weight struggles at UM. Unfortuntately it appears he had far worse struggles after his playing days were over. And not just with his weight.
Looking at some of M's other good OTs, there is quite a bit of variation in height. Lewan is 6'8", Jake Long is 6'7, Jansen is 6'6", Runyan Sr. is 6'7. Adam Stenavich is 6'4", Schofield is 6'6", Jeff Backus is 6'5".

Skrepenak is from my home town. I wound up sitting right next to him on an airplane flying back east once.
It was really cool . . . for about 5 minutes.
Then I was sitting right next to a 300+ lb. man on an airplane.

Yikes! I hope you at least had the aisle seat.
I remember back when Skrepenak was on the team, one of the pregame shows featured him being weighed in like a meat-packing plant. I've always been skeptical of those claims ("he weighs too much for the scale!!) but no doubt Skrepanek was a huge dude.

Had dinner with Big Jon Runyan and Jr. last Saturday night in Flint. Jr. played the entire year with a high ankle sprain suffered in camp and aggrevated during the season.

I think the obvious answer is that those tackles have committed elsewhere. Isaiah Wilson, for example, is playing for Georgia instead of Michigan. He's listed at 6'7", 345 lbs. Devery Hamilton is 6'7", 294 lbs. and flipped to Stanford. There was a long stretch where the tackles for Michigan were 6'6" or taller, but that ended about 4 years ago or so.
That being said, Michigan has 6'7" Grant Newsome and 6'6" Juwann Bushell-Beatty at tackle, 6'6" Joel Honigford and Chuck Filiaga are waiting in the wings, 6'7" Ryan Hayes is committed for 2018, etc.

his offer list boasts a few top programs, but its not as impressive as you would expect for a guy of his size and skill set who is starting for one of the best teams in california at left tackle
December 5th, 2017 at 3:40 AM ^
Oh, and we can afford to be so picky on OT (Ulizio, Runyan, JBB...) = O'Korn starting vs msu, psu, osu....
