I don't think an offer always means a kid can commit immediately, such as when Kyron Watson seemed to want to commit, but had to wait on Winovich. It is possible that they told Canteen to wait until Scott's decision (or a certain date if Scott were to put it off longer than expected). On a related note, I really like Canteen. Only playing three games last season seems to have put him way under the radar (although a 4-star is obviously nothing to sneeze at) and it seems like he's picking up offers wherever he camps. Unfortunately it looks like he is now picking up quite a bit more attention and from interviews, it seems like his recruitment might go on quite a while.

Well maybe it is like the drake Harris visit to OSU, loved it but then committed to UM 2 days later? Or maybe he is feeling pressure from canteen? No probably not, he is going to Clemson..... but a boy can dream can't he?

He could be ready to go blue for all we know. He's been up enough times to know what its about. One teammate is already on deck. Another teammate being recruited heavy. He's being recruited well by our coaches and other recruits. I seen on twitter a little while back where he said he had a great convo with Peppers, and respects him a lot more. I don't know where Clemson came from but it doesn't suprise me one bit. They routinely recruit well every year, but it doesn't really amount to much. I don't know what good ole Dabo is selling, but kids buy it so it is what it is. I'm still optimistic until Sam Webb changes my mind. Edit: Webb said he's trending to Clemson so there it is. I guess Sammy Watkins did a great job as his host. Maybe the coaches knew something and offered Canteen. Really wanted Scott in this class, but you gotta move on.

It looks bad now, but hasn't Clemson had a bunch of early commitments fall through? Robert Nkemdiche is obviously their highest profile decommitment, but I seem to recall they've had quite a few decommitments over the past few recruiting cycles. So even if he verbally commits to Clemson at the Opening, I don't think Michigan is out of it, unless he winds up in the same situation as EJ Leavenberry and loses his spot to another commit before he can change his mind.

It's fine either way. Guy's got to do what he has to do. Would be nice if he comes here but not the end of the world if he doesn't since we can't win them all.

do we go back to Williams or have we burned that bridge a bit?

Also, not so sure we're totally out of this. Apparently the coaches felt confident enough in their chances with Scott that they told KJ Williams he didn't have a spot at the moment. The coaching staff has pulled one out of thin air enough that I won't believe we're out of it till Scott publicly picks another school

9/9 for Clemson in the last 2 hours. Have to think there's some reliable information out there

Then again, we saw everyone suddenly freak out with Winovich to Pitt and OMG Hand to Bama so I'll take it with a grain of salt at this point

The point being that people all predicted Bama on a little snippet of information but people still kinda sorta think Michigan might be Hand's letter so just because everyone freaks out and picks one school all at once doesn't mean they're right, it probably just means something is happening.

With Winovich, a lot of people thought Pitt since he decided he was announcing and had recently visited Pitt. Wrong

With Hand, a lot of people took Hand eliminating Va Tech as Hand loves Bama

Here, people could be interpreting "Scott is announcing" and his recent visit to Clemson as OMG Scott to Clemson. NSFMF! I don't think Michigan's out of it

Not enough points to start a general recruiting info thread, but I will add here that Michigan 5* DT offeree Andrew Brown (who is tight with Hand but eliminated us a couple weeks ago) said he's deciding tomorrow from among the following:

Brown, who will decide between Virginia, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Alabama and Clemson, said there are several factors that will go into his decision.

Would be great to get him, but if we don't, not the end of the world. We've already got one solid, top-100 WR prospect in Drake Harris. If we don't land Scott, we'll find someone else.

I have to stop following recruiting on a day to day basis. Losing these kinds of kids to other schools didn't hurt as much when I wasn't getting my hopes up by reading the hype everyday. I started following recruiting heavily right around the Laquon Treadwell hype. Im sick of the emotional roller coaster already

Football game about 5 years ago. We took a motor home down their because my buddies were graduating from CMU that year. Clemson is a beautiful place tons of fun and the people were great. I can absolutely see how someone could fall in love with the place. It is also a lot closer to home for him which I believe would have to weigh into your decision to some extent.

in that he could have seen Clemson and realized it was the place for him, or they could have been the real contender with us, and he saw it and was like "Nah", so the choice became obvious.

I think he either realized he Clemson and the other choices weren't as good as Michigan and he is going to commit to us. Or he realized he wanted to go to Clemson. From what I read he loves Michigan and he wants to play with Cole and Campbell (in my opinion a Michigan lock). I think he chooses Michigan. Also on another note I also think we have a better shot with Jones then a lot of people give us credit for.

Clemson also has Deshaun Watson committed for the class of 2014, who is the #1 dual-threat quarterback to Rivals and the #5 pro-style quarterback in 247's Composite ranking. A high-profile QB can go a long way in the recruitment of receivers, especially when those receivers can look at the offense and see themselves in it, which Scott can do with Hopkins, Watkins, Jacoby Ford, etc. I think one of the issues for Michigan in recruiting receivers has been, "Yeah, you've got Shane Morris in the fold, but there hasn't been a standout Michigan receiver since Mario Manningham in 2007."

Every Big time WR recruit is going to want to play for great school and see a track record of WR success to the NFL. We just don't have that lately and it's killing us on the trail. I think we can win the battles in the Midwest and PA because of our pull here but the out of region WR studs won't come here unless we start getting Wideouts to the league again.

We'll see what happens, but I'd love to have this kid in Ann Arbor. Absolutely electric. I get the feeling that regardless of where he goes we'll be seeing an awful lot of that young man.

I have a theory that has been pretty solid in the past about where a kid is committing. I'm not a creeper I promise but you go to said recruits twitter account. Check out the last 10 or so people they followed and what fan base they belong to. For Scott, 8/10 are Clemson and like 6 of them are Clemson cheerleaders.

The theory has been very solid in the past, Garnett followed a bunch of things like Stanford medical school the week before he decided. Green followed a crap ton of Michigan related things before he decided. Treadwell followed a bunch of ole miss related things before he decided.

Does anyone know when Scott is announcing this weekend? (i.e. date and time)

Also, are we sure that Williams is out or is it just assumed because we seemed to "slow play" him in favor of Scott?
