Art Regner weighs in on Harbaughgeddon 2014. Is he credible?
Art Regner says Jim is a "Michigan geek" and had this to say:

I don't know Regner, but this was quite interesting:

Anyone know much about this guy? Almost sounds like he's putting words in Harbaugh's mouth to me. Thoughts?

Stop drinking and go to bed.
Just kidding. I agree with you.

Someone inform him that Dant is the new Bo

However, there is another fly in the ointment. I believe JH has a special needs child and he and is wife love the treatment he is getting in the Bay area.
That is not to say he wouldn't find similar treatment within the Michigan University complex.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Aren't the rumors saying that he'll be run out of town if he doesn't win the Super Bowl this year?
November 5th, 2014 at 6:12 PM ^
You sure you aren't thinking of Chris Petersen (brought up about him when he was at BSU and he was menitoned for any vacancies)? I have not heard this about any of Harbaugh's children.

If you had, you wouldn't wonder whether he's credible. His "expertise" is in hockey -- I love it when he asks questions at Babcock's post-game sessions and Babcock (and Regner's fellow beat writers) can hardly keep a straight face trying to answer. Total tool.
November 5th, 2014 at 6:04 PM ^
His "expertise" is acting like a screaming imbecile on horrible sports radio shows. When they worked together at WDFN, Terry Foster was actually the more intelligent one. That tells you a lot right there.
November 5th, 2014 at 7:45 PM ^
Regner, your low opinion of him aside, is a Michigan guy who once wrote a book about the school and the program and probably has as many connections as anyone to the school and community.
November 5th, 2014 at 8:29 PM ^
Regner post game Lions shows on Sunday afternoons were probably the best sports radio I've ever heard. It is too bad they dont want anyone on their air anymore that actually says anything negative Sundays.
That said, he is more of a hockey guy in general.

We need to hold a candle light vigil until James comes back home to Ann Arbor.

Not sure if this is approaching Urban to OSU territory or Gruden to Tennessee territory.

A) We need a new Football Coach, and a good one.
B) Harbaugh will be looking for a new job this Winter, and he is a good coach.
C) Harbaugh will take the job if it is offered, and is the best candidate out there.
D) Michigan has the money to make this happen.
This is a perfect storm for a Harbaugh hiring, there can be no lies or excuses like with D.B. for everyone knows the score, and only a terrible decision or an arrrogant screwup can keep this from happening. Harbaugh is probably the only one who can unite this fan base, and get the program back to where it needs to be. Failure to hire him would only further divide the base, nuke the program, from space, and thrill our adveraries.

Les Miles and his Championship ring might differ.
I'd like Harbaugh (either) to come to AA but I'd be more than pleased with Les Miles, Cam Cameron and John Chavis...
November 5th, 2014 at 7:05 PM ^
In that case his LOL is still warranted...

Cam Cameron? Baltimore? Not too shabby?!
You're aware we're talking about the guy who was fired as OC in week 14 and whose firing was widely credited as being what turned them into a real Super Bowl team, yes?
November 5th, 2014 at 7:23 PM ^
Cam Cameron is a crappy offensive coordinator that LSU fans hate
John Chavis has never spent more than a few days in his entire life north of the Mason-Dixon line and would probably find work in the SEC just fine
Les Miles is a 62 year old Brady Hoke clone who just happened to have lucked into one of the best jobs in the country
pass

Michigan Arrogance may be a "thing"; indeed, based on your analysis Vince Lombardi could come back from the dead to form a Holy triumvirate with Jesus Christ and Bo Schembechler filling the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Head Football Coach role and they'd probably be limited. FWIW Jesus never worked North of the Mason Dixon Line and Coach Lombardi did most of winning in Wisconsin. Schembechler..."too many 8-4 seasons", I'm sure. Maybe if they added Buddy Ryan as Defensive Coordinator, the late Don Coryell and Bill Walsh as Co-offensive coordinators, Brady Hoke as recruiting coordinator, Fred Jackson as, well, Fred Jackson and Tom Brady as AD this might be good enough?
/smh

Seriously. Also - "sexual deviant" is a pretty vague term. If it's just that he's into some 50 Shades of Grey type of shit, I'm cool with that.
November 5th, 2014 at 8:32 PM ^
I think you're going to have to repeat them again. I'm on here a lot, and I don't remember anything other than Moellers' wife. I have heard some people say it was Carrs' ex wife, but nothing else...

You know what? I do remember you posting that now. Wasn't the gist of it that he didn't actually do anything or directly say anything that could be called inappropriate but generally came off as really damn creepy? I don't remember the specifics, but I do generally recall that you posted it.
No PM's on the blog, which I really wish would be addressed. I don't like putting my email on here simply because it would out me to a few people that I know read the site. They probably already know it's me, but I still want to keep that shred of hope...
I appreciate the reply.

The Hoke clone stuff I'd dead-on from a football perspective - if Miles didn't recruit like he was in the middle of the Deep South with unlimited booster cash, he'd be Hoke on Red Bull. Inane in-game management and an inability to field an offense that is close to reflecting the talent of recruits? Leslie's got that in spades. And, sexual improprieties aside, he's just about as sleazy as they come. Lied to Jai Eugene (and who knows how many others) about Lloyd having a serious health condition. Turned Okie State into an absolute circus in terms of academic and behavioral standards for players -- Gundy had to go full Charlie Strong on that program to clean it up, and it's not exactly Harvard over there.
Miles would be an unmitigated disaster of a hire. If you think to yourself, 'hey, Hoke's pretty good, but I wish he said more goofy shit and was willing to drag UM football into the gutter,' then Miles is your man. I am so, so fucking relieved in the knowledge that Schlissel won't go near him with a ten foot pole and an Ebola suit.
November 6th, 2014 at 12:32 AM ^
You have first hand accounts of Miles's sexual deviancy? Were you members of the same swingers club, swap wives, or what?
November 5th, 2014 at 6:33 PM ^
Jack Harbaugh answering that question about Jim coming to UM with "Heck, yeah he'd take the job!!" All we have is one tweet that may or may not have been deleted by the TV station and no video, correct?
It seems like the level of optimism on this site is being driven by that tweet/comment and I have yet to see any evidence that would make me believe it's more than 1% true. I don't know why a savvy "elder statesman" like the senior Mr. Harbaugh would rat out Jim's intentions so casually.
So ... link?

That's because it was anonymous internet poster bullshit that was repeated by clowns like Bernie Smilovitz in today's typical "we repeat the unsourced rumor and you decide" TV news approach.
November 5th, 2014 at 6:43 PM ^
or not:
"I used to stare down at that field as I was stenciling those numbers," Harbaugh told reporters, athletes and others who crowded into the Arrillaga Family Sports Center's Kissick Auditorium. "I so very badly wanted to go to Stanford and play for the Cardinal. … This was my number-one choice all along."

November 5th, 2014 at 6:45 PM ^
Ouch, that hurt me and I wasn't even involved.
November 5th, 2014 at 6:50 PM ^
that Harbaugh might well have already coached his college dream job—by his own words, Stanford—and may not have any particular interest in coaching Michigan.
If I'm Jim Hackett or whoever the AD is to make the hiring decision, he'd certainly be my #1 choice, but I wouldn't have any rosy illusions that he'd automatically take the job.
November 5th, 2014 at 6:54 PM ^
He stated later in other articles of his "love" for Michigan which I do not doubt.
The real issue--the insurmountable one--is that he wants a Super Bowl ring. Michigan cannot give him that.
November 5th, 2014 at 7:05 PM ^
I call bullshit. Mostly because we hear coaches pandering to their schools and alumni all the time. And nobody dreams of coaching at Stanford.
November 5th, 2014 at 7:13 PM ^
So, you're calling Jim Harbaugh a bald-faced liar?
