Arnett Using Commitment Eve to Commit to...All of Them?

Submitted by Swazi on

Ed-M: Six! Six fake commits ah ah ah. Sorry for hijacking this thread, but it's too entertaining not to have it all in one place.

For those just joining us, 4-star WR DeAnthony Arnett has a press conference tomorrow night to announce his school choice. In the meantime, he is having a bit of fun at the expense of fans who follow this stuff way too closely.

Look in the mirror, then look here.

Wherever DeAnthony commits, I give him credit -- this is one of the best roasts of the recruiting nutters that I've ever seen....

He's picking USC:

Wait, no, it's Michigan:

Just kiddin, M. It's Central Michigan:

Aw Hell, It's Tennessee:

]

And...it's Slippery Rock...wait no the 'University of Michigan State':

No no no it's "The University of Cal" (last one):

And then the respective online fanbases get the screen turned around on them.

Thank you DeAnthony and brotherguy for a hilarious night. [/takeover]

Not sure if this is him being serious, or him messing around with everyones head again.  Take it for what it's worth.

... with the general sentiment that these videos went from funny to classless pretty quick, let's all remember that we're dealing with an extremely talented individual who has been treated over the last couple years like he can walk on water.  If I was 17 that would go to my head very fast.

The goal of an education and of college is to build character, maturity, discipline, and hopefully, a level of humility.  Wherever he goes, I hope he picks a program that has people who can help him learn these things.  Because you don't have to act like a jerk to be successful, and your success as a human being is magnified with a certain level of humility.

My source still says M, but I hope he's wrong. I'm all for having fun with recruiting, but  there's no need to take shots at programs. coaches, and players. Go to State DA- you'll fit right in and be an easy one to dislike.

Meh, not worth getting uptight about this. If he comes to Michigan, welcome DeAnthony. If he goes to MSU, we kick his ass all over the field. It's a win-win.

But wish you the best DA.  It was funny watching the videos.  Anywhere but sparty would be nice.  I guess I really like the Watkins/Crawford duo with Dreads...
although FitzTou10 has a source.  Book it.

It did look pretty legit, and I didn't watch all of them but I didn't hear any sparty "disses" by him or his brother.

However, anyone else find it a little surprising that he would reveal this the night before his announcement?  Still seems like it could be a diversion.

I hope he goes to MSU, where I'm sure they'd never let anything like this happen.

Well, maybe once, but definitely not again.  Zero tolerance for second chances.

Well, maybe twice, but I'm sure he'd be out after that.

Well, maybe by "out" I meant out on the field starting.  Whatever.

I'm 100% positive you were 18 at one time. Are you that high and mighty now that you can't see the humor in all of this. This board goes crazy during any recruiting update or news regarding good info for michigan, including myself. He is flipping the process on its head and having fun. Man, he didn't beat anyone up, he didn't steal a laptop, he didn't get drunk, drive and hit a car. He very well could not fit in at MSU and is realizing this when he picks either Tenn or UofM.

Last post ends by scrolling through a number of recruiting websites from the various schools, plus a Freep article re Arnett having fun with Twitter.  Pretty clearly a satire, and not too badly executed IMO.

i'm having a really hard time telling whether that was: (1) one of the smartest, most insightful displays i've ever seen from a high school kid, (2) an early glimpse at the next unbearable prima donna wide receiver, or (3) both. i'm leaning toward (1) if he chooses michigan, (2) if he chooses MSU, and (3) if he chooses any of the other schools.

I'm not judging him since I agree that too many people take this way too seriously, but at this point I don't really care if he comes to Michigan or not.

or is he considering us more now only because we've won a game against Illinois? Is he really interested in being part of a team, or solely in how many balls he gets thrown his way every game?

Getting guys like Zettel and Walls and Drew are far, far more central to the ultimate success of RR here than guys like Arnett.

but, "team" doesn't jump right out at me when I read or see anything about him.

Michigan has very good depth at WR.  Keep the scholarship and go get a hungry kid like Desmond Morgan.

but he's super-talented and you don't say no if he wants to come here. Also, wasn't Roundtree about his size when he came in? That turned out terrible after a RS year.

BTW, thought the videos last night were hilarious. Great piece of satire to roast the lunatic fringe in CFB that follows recruiting.

but IMO...this is not how young men should handle their business.

1. Handle your business on and off the field

2. Find a school you want to go to for both academic and athletic reasons

3. Commit without all this pomp and circumstance

4. Be a man and stick by your commitment.

That does not seem that hard...what say you all?
