Armani Reeves narrows down list (good news)

Submitted by Real Tackles Wear 77 on

I don't have the Scout subscription, but this is listed as part of the free content so I assume it's fair game...

He only has interest in four schools: High interest in UM and PSU, Medium interest from BC and Stanford. Seems like a high character kid interested in getting an education.

I really want Armani to go blue, but I'm concerned that his teammate LB Camren Williams is committed to Penn State. I guess we'll see what happens. Hopefully Tom will have more incite on this in the weekly recruiting update.

It's been us v. PSU for Armani for awhile now. PSU is a great program, but with a coaching change guaranteed for them very soon I don't get why they are recruiting so well this year. We lost out to them on Denman a few days ago and I just have a feeling Reeves is probably leaning that way. Why?

football tradition, resources, etc.  We are all UM homers of course, but it's not like PSU doesn't have any appeal at all.  The white-out games there at night are pretty impressive too.

They are recruiting really well in their area.  It seems like it is a decent year for the talent in the north east.  All but one of their recruits have come from PA, MD, MA, NJ and NY, the other coming from Ohio.

As I've said in the past, I'd love to see more guys from Mass on the team to rep my state. Armani is no exception. We've given a lot of attention to the UM-MSU recruiting battle and to a lesser extent the UM-OSU recruiting battle (partially because OSU has what 12 spots?) and while they are our primary competition for recruits, I'm also interested in seeing how Hoke does against PSU and Wisconsin. This would be a nice player to get.

I have been giving this some thought for a while now about how well Hoke has been doing in regards to recruiting. I do think there is a perfect storm brewing for him. OSU not having many schollies...the media witch hunt against RR,(the next coach was bound to get a windfall of love) the pending sanctions coming OSU's way, little brother suddenly developing the little brother complex again, amongst other things. But I think one intangible that Hoke has that RR didn't was the love for the program. And I am not questioning RR's love for this program. I am pretty sure he did love it here. But, I think it came with a lack of understanding. He had to learn everything on the fly. Brush on all the traditions, the interactions of the coach within the various communities...etc. And his many misteps have been documented. Hoke didn't have to learn Michigan, he knew it and craved the opportunity to be a part of it. He didn't have to brush up on the traditions or be sold on its legacy. He knows just how special of a place this is and it shows through when he talks about it with recruits, the media, the guy down the street.

And quite frankly, it is contagious. He has done well in getting Mattison too. That can not be understated.

I think OSU has 15 spots, which is also what we started out as having before transfers. I am sure more will open up for them through attrition or early entries (although I guess I don't see any Jr's on their roster that could leave early - maybe Simon with a good year). They won't have to turn away any top talent.

It sounds like Penn State is going to go after him hard so if we don't also we'll probably lose him.

Based on Tom's last blog about him it doesn't sound like he'll make a decision any time soon.

Quick! Someone call him and let him know by the rules of Michigan recruiting this year he's obligated to commit to us before anyone else (non CB related of course) does.

Its getting to the point where I am surprised when a recruit DOESN'T pick Michigan.  Hoke has got serious "Gotta Catch Em All Fever" and eventually he is going to run out of pokeballs...right?

the "well-dressed Armani Reeves" as a throwback to the ESPN days before Chris Berman was a caricature of a caricature of himself and NFL Primetime had to be merged into SC.

I've been a huge michigan fan my whole life but i grew up in Pennsylvania.  Penn State is a huge draw to kids on the East Coast. It has a large alumni base from NY, NJ,MD and the New England area.  So whenever we are battling Penn State for a kid in that region we are at a disadvantage from the beginning.
