Arkansas Fans Do Not Seem To Want Chris Barnett

Submitted by namaste on

I was reading the scout boards, and I came across an interesting thread. Apparently Arkansas fans aren't enamoured with 4* recruit Chris Barnett. The OP of the thread posted screenshots of an Arkansas forum with fans saying things like: "Barnett is turning into a major headcase with an injury hanging over his head." Some of the things these fans are saying are unconscionable attacks of his character.

An Arkansas fansite posted a status from Barnett's facebook page after he re-opened his recruitment asking for patience and understanding from Razorback fans; it is unfortunate that he is getting neither.

Injury or not, I hope Chris Barnett makes the best decision of his life (when I did the same, it was for me), and chooses to attend the University of Michigan.

If you can't differentiate the blue and black on your screen, the links are at "interesting thread," "Chris Barnett," and "posted a status."

Hey now, there's no reason to be calling fellow Michigan fans "idiots."  Have you remember, our almighty savior Brian didn't even want Hoke when the coaching serch began.  Nor did I.  But at the end of the day, it's about supporting the team.  It wasn't the press conference that got me to like Hoke, it was the fact that he is now Michigan's head coach.  No matter if I wanted him as coach or not doesn't matter anymore.

Ahem, ripped Hole?

I think you need a 'k' where that 'l' is.  Unless, of course, you're talking about ripping holes -- then you might be worried someone's going to take it out of context.

Not being a Nazi, I mostly just thought it was funny.

I liked the part where they said that we could possibly be giving Barnett "the Cam Newton treatment." I thought about saying something more but i think that comment expresses everything I could say and more.

+1 for mackbru. thats exactly what this is...some michigan fans have done it a little bit with dhart and frost but everyone needs to remember that these are kids lives and whatever choice they all make I just hope it works out for them. some things are more important that how many stars a guy you recruited has next to his name

Florida (rivals) boards didn't want Jake Fisher either. Just about all complained about "3*, WTF Muschamp?", some asshole repeatedly stressing his concern about stiff hips.
<br>aaamich is right, programs don't care about idiot fans. But going where you're wanted is a big deal - Fisher makes this class for us.

Arkansas fans might be the most insane (and stupid) fan base in the country.  This was the fan base that ran Houston Nutt out of town for having the audacity to use a predominantly run based attack with the backfield of Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis as opposed to relying on the passing of Mitch Mustain as a true freshman.

I will grant that Houston Nutt is just about as insane as your general Arkansas fan, and there were plenty of good reasons to want to get rid of him.  But none of these reasons were why Nutt was essentially pushed out, Arkansas fans wanted him to let it fly with Mitch Mustain, seriously, and not use McFadden, Jones and Hillis.  These people are insane.

Did Auburn "let if fly" this season?

Nutt was ran out of Arkansas for not letting Gus Malzahn call the plays. He then ran off Damien Williams (First-team All-Pac10), Mitch Mustain, and finally Gus Malzahn when he decided to bring in another OC (David Lee).

Seems the changes have worked out well for Arkansas, Auburn, and Ole Miss...

BTW: We do want Barnett.

Rationalize it all you want, but every Arkansas fan I know wanted to be passing the ball that year... with Mitch Mustain... as a freshman.  Nutt certainly has his flaws, and his handling of the OC situation was certainly one.  But not bending his will to a bunch of prima donnas from the local high school and instead deciding to run the football with one of the best college backfields ever assembled, was a good decision.

I remember debating with on Arkansas fan and he said something along the lines of "Mustain will go win two heismans at USC."  I said, "he'll be lucky to see the field."

I guess I know quite a few Hog fans myself, and passing the ball was the least of his problems.

FYI: Mitch Mustain was 8-0 as a starter for Arkansas. He was benched after a book was published quoting Mustain calling Nutt a "Dork" for the way he reacted after a win over Mississippi State. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edlo3UsGWQs)

Houston refused to develop a QB... notice Javon Snead went from Heisman candidate in 2009 to undrafted in 2010.

I don't pretend to know all the problems Michigan fans have/had with Richrod / Carr. Don't think you know the full story with Houston Nutt and Arkansas fans.
