ARGH: UM IPTV no longer in service, not BTN

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
Argh, I can't watch the Michigan series this weekend because my usual method of watching the BTN has been cut off. Zattoo is no longer a supported service and the UM IPTV service has been cut indefinitely. So yeah, Michigan lost today 8-5. I'll try and listen to a radio call of the game tomorrow, as well as catch the audio for tomorrow's game. Probably will miss the first innings while umpiring again.

You probably already know about this service, but I'll tell you just in case you don't. You can get Michigan baseball games on www.bigtennetwork.com for $2.99 per game. Sure you have to pay, but if you have no other choice I guess you should go for it.

Unfortunately, there isn't a baseball package on www.bigtennetwork.com that I'm aware of. They do have basketball and football packages by conference, team, or sport available on www.bigtenticket.com though. I guess that means they don't think there will be enough demand for streamed baseball games that they can justify with a package deal. Or they could just be testing the water and may offer a package deal later on. That is probably the worst analysis you'll read in your life and I basically have no idea, sorry.

This school year is packaged individually because BTN hasn't had a chance to get every park or sport installed with equipment. $2.99 is about half the cost of anything similar outside of the Horizon League which runs it for free without sound or anything else. When I interviewed the BTN about it, it sounded as if they were planning on looking into monthly and yearly or by sport or school options after they get their equipment installed everywhere. I would imagine that won't be in place until '11-'12 season after they have a full year of all cameras up and viewership to gauge their best option.
