Are You Planning on Renewing Your Big Ten Championship Tickets?

Submitted by hart20 on

Who's planning on renewing their Big Ten Championship tickets from last year? I just received an e-mail about renewing them but I'm not planning on it. I'm 99% certain that we'll reach the Championship game but I'm just going to buy tickets off the secondary market once the time comes. Last year I paid $125/ticket, while comparable tickets were going for ~$10-$15 the week before the game. Probably not the best investment.

Just for fun, who do you have playing in that game? I think it'll be Michigan vs. Wisconsin. Wisconsin doesn't have a single team to stand in their way.

I like us vs Wisconsin. I can imagine that we will sell the game out, unlike Sparty and Badgerdude did last year. No embarrassing seat-filling events required.

I like us out of this division, but I'm not sure the tickets hold their value and it's not worth locking the cash up in.  Wisconsin and State actually have fairly decent fanbases and they failed to really generate a strong demand for tickets.  From the looks of it you need too really rabid fanbases to push the secondary market up.

Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska, and Michigan are the only fanbases that travel well.  tOSU can't go.  If we go, Nebraska can't go.  PSU is a longshot this year.  So I figure the Woody Division will be providing a team with a small fanbase and if we go the secondary market will be soft.

and then I'm going to sell them immediately and make a few bucks, like I did last year. I should be able to make enough to significantly offset the cost of my season tickets ( or my Rose Bowl tickets).

I don't we'll hold out for a Rose Bowl trip if we get there.  Personally, I'd rather go to our first B1G Championship Game than a Rose Bowl since we've been there so much.
