Are there any posters you used to hate that you now love? OT/Meta/Whatever

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
The Boards have had their fair share of hostility lately, and I thought I'd bring the love. But with a twist. Rather than just "I love so and so's posts" (invariably leading to...why didn't anyone pick me...sniff, sniff...or worse, too sugary posts), is there anybody you really couldn't stand as a poster, but you made peace, something changed, you got to like the posts more, etc.? This is NOT an "I hate xxxx" thing. But hope for us all. Well, if you're not a troll. ;-) My example- Purplestuff. Our first interaction was a knock down, drag out, insulting argument, grown out of the complete insanity and running around without heads in the whole MSU-Iowa-Illinois debacle, where cool heads were not prevaling. But we made cautious peace, and as I got where he was coming from, what his style is, and have a feel for his tone, I find him wildly entertaining. He consistently cracks me up; and I like his points as well. Now, we don't agree on everything, and I KNOW he doesn't agree with everything I say. But that's my example of another guy that my only goal was to take the piss out of, and now I look forward to his posts. Anyone else have any similiar experiences?

Magnus!!!!! I used to hate him for being a post-happy, MGoPoints lovin' son of a gun....now I just think he is funny and almost always right.

My favorite was that brief stretch where he created a new account virtually every day and the board got faster and faster at spotting him. At first he would deny it but by the end there once someone called him out, he would immediately go ape shit. He really was just slightly obnoxious because he posted the same boring depth chart thread every day, but he truly melted down when criticism came his way.

Clarkie from Canada and I went back and forth about hockey and the like during the Olympics. Didn't really hate him, but like his knowledge on ice sports. Aquaman knows him(her?)self some baseball. That's always refreshing on a (mostly) UM Football board. I couldn't stand KoB at first, but then I stopped taking him seriously and just laughed at his posts. That is, until he was banned and reincarnated as Simi Ma-, Simi Marka-, Simi Nagannaposthereanymore. And then there's that Johnny Ringo guy who walks around here acting like he owns the place. I asked my Russian prostitute wife if I should hate him. She said I should...

He was on point sometimes and out there sometimes. At times I hated his nonproductive banter, but I have to say in retrospect I miss his take.

I started posting a lot just to argue with M-Wolverine and people I thought were trashing Beilein in increasingly unfair ways. And while I maintain that a few of those posters simply don't understand either basketball or at least modern basketball statistics, M-Wolverine is far more fair and competent than I thought. I've become a fan even though I certainly don't always agree. Also: I believe em0 is still here, if any of you remember the BooBoo thread from a few days ago you might agree.

Bouje called me a douche bag in the epic Myron Rolle meltdown thread. And although Bouje is largely rehabilitated, and I guess that's good, a part of me misses his weekly stonings- especially in the offseason.

I can't believe I missed that. There are just so many gems in there: your wife and kids left you, eating Cheetohs while banging a pocket pussy and looking at kiddie porn, and the ever popular "the town you live in was probably/hopefully destroyed by a hurricane" insult. My only solace is that an outburst like that on the internet hopefully prevented some innocent bystander from being murdered in real life.
