Archie Collins earned a promotion

Looks like Archie Collins is now a coaching aid for coach d-bag. You know the one that runs the epitome of clean program. Looks like that the Gholston and Fred Smith commits finally paid off for him. On the bright side, we may have a shot at Southeastern kids now. I forwarded this and the information that Will actually lived with Archie,to Rosendouche for his next investigation. Seems like a slight conflict of interest to me. Just sayin.
Note to self: Checking in on kids to make sure they are attending class-NOT ok. Hiring a highschool asisstant who steers players to your program-All good. Thanks for clearing that up NCAA.
Can someone email the Freep on this? Not telling them to write a story, just letting them know that they should probably write a praise story about how Dantonio is respecting the state of Michigan by hiring it's high school coaches?
Seriously. Very funny.
trying to figure out how to blame Rich Rodrigeuz.
I'm thinking about sending him a quick email to congratulate him on the job and to ask what Dantonio's balls taste like.
Because we already knew that they suck!
I don't think this kind of thing is exactly something the NCAA ever really barks about. It's happened before and it'll happen again.
And really, if UM is in trouble because of two or three players Collins allegedly kidnapped and tortured, then forced to sign with MSU
Then UM is in trouble. Period.
There can't be enough speedy midgets to save us.
on package deals in basketball. They just passed legislation this past fall

dex was able to squeeze in enough time to join us again in between his threatening emails to those at GBMW
are both right in a sense... we as michigan fans have no right to say any thing about hiring a high school coach because A: the players they can help us get or B: the players they have gotten to come to michigan... what ties did perry watson have to michigan??? none... he went to henery ford CC and eastern, his only tie in the loosest sense of the word was ed martin... at least archie collins went to MSU, played football at MSU and dantonio was his postion coach while he played there, so it can be LOOKED at as a legit hire... now i'm not saying that there isn't various levels of shadiness with this hire... i have always wondered what kind of "perks" collins was or going to get for swaying players to MSU... people on this board have said that odds are he was going to get a coaching spot at MSU because of what he had done, so why is it a surprise now??? i'm going to look at this way, the playing field for recruits just got a lot more level at detroit southeastern...

I agree with him
For starters, I look forward to the Archie Collins era at MSU
His influence is somewhat nuetered if he's on the MSU staff. Suddenly he has to deal with tricky things like the nebulous, confusing NCAA rulebook. This removes a barrier for Michigan. And kinda sets MSU up for a headache if their new stud recruit is going to have different coaches with different agendas whispering into his ear while he's at State.
I thought all this Collins stuff was overrated anyway. I dont think our path to Pasadena rests with the spehere of influence he allegedly controls. Hardly.
And, is it all that skeezy or rather is it stanrdard operating procedure in the world of recruiting. There are likely things you do not want to know about your own school's recruiting methods. its the nature of the industry.
Malazhan/Mustain didnt work out for Arky, but it was hardly unethical. It's something second tier programs have to do in order to raise their own recruiting profile. It's not that out of the ordinary.

Seantrel Henderson's Dad is getting a recording deal with Snoop Dogg, presumably in exchange for his son's attendance at USC.
Compare and contrast with Gholston / Collins. There is no functional difference. This stuff happens all the time.
And furthermore, if your son (whether by birth or by blood) was/is/will be good enough to play college football, and a college football coach offered you a job when he was on that campus, would you turn it down notwithstanding that it is PERMISSIBLE under NCAA bylaws?
Don't be hypocrites. Good for Collins. Good for Gholston, he won't affect Michigan fans more than 40 plays a year the next four years and he's going to lose those four games. The whining is disproportionate to Gholston's effect on your lives.
Collins is an MSU alum, and former MSU player who was an unabashed fan of the program, right?
I don't think they needed to give him a job to push kids to MSU.
