Appreciate Days Like Today

The Wolverines grabbed two commitments today, one from OG Jack Miller, the other from QB Kevin Sousa. By most accounts, neither of these players will see the field before 2013.

With all the bad news that's gone down, really, for the past two years, we've got to appreciate good days like today. Two commitments, with the possibility that those votes of confidence could precipitate more (Zettel, Hart, etc), for a program with the most high-profile hot-seat coach in the country, is indeed great.

Try to picture the team when these kids take over. Rodriguez's job is (likely) safe, Michigan is (possibly) coming off the second- or third-straight run at a Big Ten championship, and Gardner and Sousa are doing battle all through spring and fall camp for the starting job.

We're a unique fanbase, with a prickly set of defense mechanisms currently firing. Lately, our optimism has continually been teased but rarely rewarded. My little brother, who will be a senior at Michigan, thinks we'll keep losing. That's all he's ever known as a student.

Make sure you appreciate good days. It's from commitments like today's that future championships are born.
