Where do you think we will be in the rankings if ND wins? Where do you think we will be if MSU wins?
I think you will get your wish.
ranked ahead of us lost yet? (too lazy to look right now)
They won't move anywhere. A 5 point win against a FCS team isn't going to impress anyone. Regardless of the ND MSU outcome. Also UConn got throttled so that doesn't help either. Are they 0-3?
Not saying it shouldn't, but I think that's giving too much credit to the pollsters.
In any event, I think UM will be ranked the same +/- 2 spots (depending on if anyone ahead of us loses). If ABC's coverage is any indication, most pollsters will see UM won, scored 42, write them in and move on.
Yeah I would be pleased if we only slipped 2 spots. I just hope we stay in the top 25, which I think we will.
We deserve to move down a bit after today. I wouldn't be shocked if we were out of the top 25, but I would guess we're somewhere around 23-24ish. If ND wins, especially if they win big, that might help us stay where we are, but it won't move us up, especially if Crist plays the whole game and does as well as he did against us when he was in.
Would that make any difference? They are 4 spots above us.
Oh, yeah, I wasn't thinking about what would happen if someone just above us lost. That would definitely help us out.
A 2-1 Auburn team probably isn't going to stay in the top 25. But a team like OK State who wins impressively again today could leapfrog us
Not important at all.
You don't think top recruits want to go to top 25 programs?!
We win big against BG next week and can maintain fringe top 25 status. If we're no longer in the top 25 after this week, it shouldn't be for long.
I'm pretty sure Michigan is a top 25 program. I can name about 10 schools ranked ahead of us that would not take players from Michigan. They only care about wins unless your a top 3 ranking
Personnally I don't care about rankings until the end of the year. If we're ranked #20 then I will be happy but right now it's not really a big deal. Rankings are nice but don't mean much three weeks into the season.
I don't care about rankings yet. This team was getting too much hype. But, to the extent rankings/hype help in recruiting, I obviously don't want UM to slide out.
Watching UMass' offense move the ball at will against us, though, makes our ranking seem like the least of our worries.
If ND wins, we will stay where we were. If they lose by a large margin, we will go down a couple of spots.
but we'll gain all those spots and then some after oct 9th
A higher ranking isn't going to help us win more games. I'm not sure why some of you guys care about that so much..
Recruits bro! I really don't put much stock in them but I know 16 and 17 year olds do. I want us to get back to being a half machine half monster.
I wouldn't be surprised if we slip one or two spots, but the pollsters generally are going to be pretty forgiving as long as we keep winning. We'll probably slip a bunch in the blogpoll though.
In the AP poll, the teams behind us are WVU, PSU, and Houston. West Virginia had a worse win last week against Marshall. Penn State was obliterated last week by Alabama, and beating Kent State just isn't that impressive. Maybe Houston, but I don't see pollsters bumping them up a whole lot if they beat a UCLA team that has gotten destroyed this year by everyone else. There was a big gap between us and the teams behind us, so we'll probably lose a lot of that gap and stay where we are. Actually, up a spot if Auburn loses, down a spot if Arizona beats Iowa.
We'll stay in the polls. Don't worry.
Who cares what we're ranked. Unless ND gets killed though, we will probably be around 20-22 again.
