Anywhere to watch the game in Dublin?

Submitted by drewro02 on
Spending the weekend in Dublin, and was wondering if anyone knows where I can catch the game at a pub around here. Unfortunately I am here with a buckeye, so we are hoping to catch both games, and have some pints. Not having much luck searching the web at the moment.

The Woolshed's got ya covered. http://www.woolshedbaa.com/dublin/whats-on/

Now prepare for a couple dozen people to get on your ass for having the audacity to ask this board for viewing location advice.

-Let me Google that for you

-Dude, did you even look at the Michigan bar locator?

-Anyone know where I can watch a game in Mogadishu?

-Answer: a bar

-Answer: just get on wifi and stream it

Been there done that.  But, if you're gonna be there, a few good places to watch the game is at the airport (easy get-a-way for you when dealing with upset IU fans) or locked in your hotel room.  Shopping is hard to come by but if you're feeling especially touristy stop by the Bakaara Market.  They always have good deals on Soviet Bloc weapons and ammo.

I'd stay away from Abdille Nuradin's bar.  Even though the drinks are dirt cheap, the locals don't approve of its western ways.  For the most part, the night life isn't so great so I'd stay in your room until your flight.  If you're feeling particularly brave though, you can wander out and watch the sunset and listen to the fireworks (gunfire).  Keep in mind though, the locals tend get loaded up on khat mid-afternoon so the evenings tend to be pretty roudy.  Other than that, good luck watchin the game in the Mog.

Have we updated the locator in a while? I'm living in foreign land and know that a few of my city's bars are closed. Not asking for bar rec here personally, because I know which bars have the games. Plus I stream games at home, anyway (front row, big screen, plenty of booze).

The last post in the thread itself is relatively recent (October 30th), but the map that goes with it was maybe updated once in the 2012-2013 timeframe and then never again. The thread is 335 posts long and contains far more questions than answers (so nothing to put on a map in the first place), so relative effectiveness is an issue as well.

Start your pregame at the Guiness Storehouse and get a couple pints in your boy. Take him to the Old Jameson Distillery for some shots. Then tuck his drunk ass in at the hotel and go to a pub and enjoy in peace.

I lived in Dublin while studying abroad and the only place we could go to watch Football was the Woolshed.  I remember watching Super Bowl XLI (Bears v. Colts) at the Woolshed.  They had to apply for a special permit and essentially had a lock-in - once you were in, you couldn't leave and come back.  I remember leaving after the game with some Chicagoans at like 6am who were pissed and piss drunk, made for an interesting walk home.

That is cool that you are in Dublin. You said you weren't having much luck with search so I thought I would try to help with your next trip abroad. I went to Google.com and typed in "bars in Dublin Ireland that carry American Sports". Woolshed came up as a featured search item with a website that shows the games being offered. Go Blue!

Woolshed even has a "What's On" link on their site which clearly highlights that both we and OSU will be showing there today. Has to be the choice.

The game will be on BT Sport 2 today. First Michigan game to be televised in UK/Ireland this year. Most sports bars have BT Sport subscriptions and there's no league soccer on today anywhere in Europe so there isn't loads they can show.  They will have some screens on the Sweden/Denmark game, snooker and rugby but you might be able to ask them to put the Michigan game on one if they don't have it on.
