Anyone need really close parking for games?

Submitted by nucegin60 on

hey everyone,

I know advertising and stuff on here is usually frowned upon, but since this is directly related to football game days, I thought it would be OK. Me and some friends have a house on the corner of Hill and Brown, and we have some parking that can fit as many as 8 cars. The thought process is that we would open it up to the Mgocommunity for the price of $40. Now, some cars would be blocked in, but we have a nice big TV inside and would be happy to have you inside to watch the other college football games, we even would be happy to provide some chips as snacks or something. As it currently is, it would be cool if everyone could ask questions on the thread, but if a mod decides to remove it or freeze it, you can email me with questions at [email protected]. Also, if you want to have the spot for the rest of the season, you can keep it at the same rate you orginally paid for it, and we can put up the spots that the people don't want to keep each week.

with a fake email address I created. Weird? yes, but entertaining. This was his response.

"Hi Kady,

Surprisingly enough I've had several inquiries. I guess a radio station heard about my ad and read it on the air! The response is overwhelming! Others have send pics and I am going to make a decision this weekend for the Marshall game. If you want to send pics I'll take them into consideration.

Thanks,

Matt"
Looking back it's actually kind of funny, but his email address is [email protected] (TOOL ALERT).

Here I was expecting - Hey I have some space close to the stadium if any fellow MGoBloganders want to use it.  We'd be happy to meet you and talk some Michigan football.

Instead we got - Hey we are all fellow members of MGoBlog so which of you wants to give me the most money to park at my house??

Sheesh!

I apologize, it's just most people who have spots pretty close to the stadium do sell their spots, and I know I would like to have the selling of our spots taken care of ahead of time instead of holding up a sign for parking the whole morning, and I also figured some of the people on the board might like the have there parking situation taken care of in a very convient manner before they arrived so they also wouldn't be preoccupied on gameday.

isn't really what I had a problem with.  I loved selling parking in college as it was fun to be out in the morning of the game, and all our money went to the parties we had. My problem is you didn't come here to give MGobloggers some special deal or first dibs on a sweet deal.  You came on here with a bidding war. This is not ebay, so unless I can win a spot with a $1 bid, then you might want to rethink you're methods. If you don't feel like waking up in the morning to sell spots, then come here with a reasonable price to pre sell the spots.

I had no problem with your solicitation..... until you suggested that members here should bid against eachother as if there wasn't a well established precedent for acceptible parking rates.

Offering a discount relative to the going rates to members of the best blog site on the web = +1.

Expecting blog members to bid against eachother for your financial gain = -1.
