Anyone In the Know with Regard to MSU Kick time?

Submitted by azian6er on

Just curious if anyone has any more info than the regular joes with regard to the Sparty Kick time.

I just picked up tickets (S41 Row 79), however, am debating lodging on Saturday evening depending on kick time.

Does anyone know the system, or can anyone make a high confidence guess as to what the kick is MOST likely to be?

Im thinking 3:30pm which would be awesome for game atmosphere - but sucky for commute home....

ideas?

blame the coach and AD, who no doubt both likem for a variety of reasons. The school makes the call on gametime unless the network overrules on the window available.

I would guess a 3:30 pm start but wouldn't rule out an early kick for this home game. In any case, Michigan has scheduled the noontime kickoffs against three Western timezone schools for obvious competitive reasons. Whether you like this or not, it's being done to enhance competitive advantage. Hard to argue with that when winning is the bottom line of playing the game.

Unless Michigan loses to BYU and one (or both) of Maryland and Northwestern, it will very likely be a 3:30 kick.

Little chance the TV networks will want to put an intense rivalry game in a weak noon time slot especially given MSU's ranking. I'd say as long as we are 4-2 or better going into that game, you should put your money on 3:30.

As I recall, ABC / ESPN basically gets first draw on each time slot, but you're right - that game was on BTN in 2012. All it really means is that, from the perspective of the people making the choices, BTN - which gets its choice of the leftovers like every conference network - probably thought that was going to be the best game of those remaining.

If you agree to play the next 38 games in EL, I will concede afterward that the all-time record is a fair measure. I think that's exceedingly generous too, considering Michigan fans are among the only people left on Earth who brag about events in the 19th century with any degree of seriousness.

Why count wins against Western Michigan this year? Why schedule games with FCS schools? Because getting those victories and ensuring great records builds program support and momentum, and every game counts.

Michigan taught the game to its rivals since it has been playing the sport longer than they have. And those early wins have always counted. You know, it's why you can claim this school went to the first Rose Bowl when the event was about chariot races and other activities designed to promote tourism in LA.

When should the counting actually start, when you're good enough to win or when you first field a team? Should the years that you suck or can't compete not count because......?

Oh, you mean like the hoardes of UofM fans that discount, minimize and practically nullify MSU's wins over Rich Rod and Hoke (especially Rich Rod) because UofM sucked or could not compete?

Two games, one during the Rich Rod era and the other under Hoke, and both at EL have been early games. But both were early games before the Sparties hqve made a national name for the program under Dantonio.

Michigan has always scheduled this game or the network has at 3:30 pm in Ann Arbor. I can't remember a game with MSU when that wasn't the case going back to early 90's.

More often, the game has been played at noon at Spartan Stadium, including in 1997 when Woodson made the greatest interception of all-time and the Sparties scored on a trick play.
