So I live in Chicago and was just walking down the street rocking a Michigan shirt. An old man pointed at the big block M on my chest and said 'Hey, good school!' I stopped and talked for him for a few minutes. He told me that he used to play football for Michigan under Fritz Crisler. The guy didn't give me his full name, but he told me that since he's Jewish, Crisler didn't think the fans would be supportive of him playing. So Crisler just started calling him 'The Dutchman' (I guess Crisler didn't think the Dutch could be Jewish? I don't know).
Anyway, I think he said he was a fullback. He had some pretty detailed stories of playing for Crisler in front of 98,000 people (was aware that the stadium now holds over 113,000) and was on the ball about the current team. Does anyone know if this is a real player or if I've just been Googling a senile old man's fictional past for the last half hour?
