Anybody been to practice?
so I understand there is now some sort of media blackout of practices. does this also mean that garden variety fans cant just wak in an watch?
does it make one a media person if you go to practice and post a comment on this site?
Ill be back soon, and would love to try and catch part of a practice.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:08 AM ^
Um... I don't think garden variety fans have ever been allowed to just walk in and watch practice.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:22 AM ^
is that you can never tell which one is a weed.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:10 AM ^
Hopefully the players have been there.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:11 AM ^
You think anyone can just walk through the gates to the practice field and watch practice?
August 11th, 2010 at 10:14 AM ^
Dave Brandon's pimp hand is equal opportunity, don't try anything.
August 11th, 2010 at 12:16 PM ^
I don't know...looks like she's enjoying that.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:13 AM ^
They performed a bit of Vivaldi.
Oh... you meant football practice. Then no. Unless it's a specifically open practice, then no, regular old "fans" are never allowed.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:15 AM ^
BBB, gird your loins and prepare for some ribbing. I don't know where you ever got the notion that garden-variety fans have ever been allowed to just wander in and watch practice, but as Carcajous points out, it has NEVER been possible in Ann Arbor, at least since 1969 when Bo got here.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:28 AM ^
so what is all this "new openness" I keep reading about? I could swear I have seen info to the effect that the RR regime was so open and transparent. Somebody here mentioned open practices.......when are they and how does one find out in advance?
August 11th, 2010 at 12:24 PM ^
Around here, we just call that thing you read "the Jihad."
August 11th, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice. When you come to the field, and you see the team play, you've seen them play right, you've seen them give everything they've got, but we're talking about practice right now.
We're not even talking about the game, when it actually matters, we're talking about practice."
August 11th, 2010 at 10:19 AM ^
Sure you can go to practice, but only if you know the secret password. Just walk up to the gate on State St., and when asked what is your business, say this:
August 11th, 2010 at 10:56 AM ^
If this dude keeps posting like this, you're going to have to change your name. I see "blue blue blue" and I can't figure out if it's the rational poster or the idiot.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:02 AM ^
Why should he change his name? Blue Blue Blue is the one who sucks.
August 11th, 2010 at 2:25 PM ^
For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman..."
August 11th, 2010 at 11:27 AM ^
The first time I saw one if his posts I had a disturbing feeling of memory loss, seeing a post I had no recollection of posting. Then I read the actual words and looked closer at the name, and realized it was perhaps just a kid or someone who is 'challenged'. Regardless, I can always try to blame any real boneheaded or extreme a-hole posts on this dude.

The press can't attend but normal people off the street can. Snyder hasn't gotten in bc he's not clever enough to remove his press pass and THEN walk in. God that's rich.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
FOIA! It's my RIGHT to see the practices!
August 11th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
I wonder if a FOIA request would apply to something like this. Weren't folks able to obtain minutes of Regents meetings about the NCAA allegations?
It would be silly to try, but dumber things have happened.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
That's about as good as it's going to get.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:31 AM ^
that runs next to the field hockey field. I routinely ride my bike over and stop on the overpass but very often I'm asked to leave by some guy in a michigan polo. I believe his job is to look for outsiders looking in. But I do get to see usually 15-20 minutes of practice.
EDIT: I try to find out when practice starts and go about an hour in, so I don't just see them stretching in a line.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:55 AM ^
(I just wish i had the animated gif)
August 11th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
But I don't have the image saved on this computer, and the only thread I can find that I posted it in tells me that one of the ads has a virus every time I try to open it.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:40 AM ^
Not as hard to sneak in as people think. Just go to Dunham's, buy a helmet and #1 jersey. Then get in line with the receivers (Note: Do not get in line with the OL or DL, they will instantly figure out you don't belong because of your jersey number is too low). Ask Odoms if he has worked on this "Z-4 Route"... this official WR lingo will help you blend in. Then call Roundtree "Sticks", it's his new nickname given to him by RR (again, blending). You'll get right in.
Have fun.
Oh, and tomorrow when you get on MGoBlog, let us know if Turner was there.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:49 AM ^
My nomination for comment of the year.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:23 AM ^
You just don't see this level of committment to sarcasm much any more. I especially liked the JT Turner button at the end.
Judging from your signature, I'm guessing you're at the tail end of Gen X. 1979?
EDIT: Based on Carcajous's reasoning below, I'm revising the above estimate to a 1975 birth year, or more smack in the middle of Gen X.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:31 AM ^
...Gen X was topical? The next time it will be is when we start seeing retirement planning and ED ads targeting the group. Sad.
Of course, before there was Generation X, there was Generation X.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:04 AM ^
Just curious — who are you referring to in your sig? It's not Michigan...
August 11th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
the 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 seasons were all 4-loss seasons (he'd have graduated in 1997, but "experienced" those four seasons).
August 11th, 2010 at 10:51 AM ^
Move along please...
August 11th, 2010 at 10:51 AM ^
The genius is in its lack of traditional intelligence.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:03 AM ^
From the most reliable source he has left the program. You will hear later in the day.
jimmyh Go Blue !!!!!
August 11th, 2010 at 11:22 AM ^
From this board. Like two hours ago.
And I believe Tim placed a moratorium on hand-wringing until at least 1:00 p.m.
So... either verify, provide a source, or stop with the wringing.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:06 AM ^
Michigan hating god and sinister scouts/coaches from other teams might get the idea that they can disguise themselves as garden variety fans and walk into practice.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
Playas and coaches been to practice, methinks
August 11th, 2010 at 11:36 AM ^
The source is one of his relatives. I am pretty sure he would know what is going on with Justin.
August 11th, 2010 at 11:39 AM ^
Shit.
Sorry, Tim. I'm hand-wringing. And gnashing teeth.
August 11th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
If it really is a relative, I've got money down on the case being this:
"Man,(relative), I just don't know. The competition is tough here. I mean, I'm working my hardest, and I don't know if I'm going to be able to crack the lineup. If I don't make it this season, I might have to transfer."
August 11th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
I told you that JT Turner was going to transfer and you negged me for sharing info with you that I already knew from a very reliable source.
