Any take-aways from Pitt/Utah

Submitted by DenverRob on

We all know we are playing a good team from the Big East.

Is there anything we can take away from the Utes dominating (out-playing not scoreboard) what is suppose to be the best BE team in Pitt?  Or am I grasping for straws here?

This game is on versus for those wondering.

I take away that you were a little pre-mature on that call. That shit isn't going to fly on saturday.

But really, if that is the best the Big East has to offer, I am fairly confident that michigan can handle UConn.

you can't take anything from this as far as our game goes.  Wannstedt may be the worst coach in FBS football....how he's kept this job for so long is hard to understand...he underachieves every single year and loses these games all the time.  he's terrible, and therefore Pitt was way over rated because they have a stud RB.

Unfortunately Wanny doesn't coach UConn...then we'd have a guaranteed W ;)  As it is it will be a tough game, but we'll pull it out in the end.  Great test to start the year....give the frosh some experience in a tight game as well as tantalizing them withe the taste of VICTORY.

He's kept the job because he's a Pitt grad, and a tie to the last national championship (76).  One thing about the city of Pittsburgh is that they really like their own, to a fault.  He's also done a pretty good job recruiting (as someone else said above) but can't seem to coach his way out of a paper bag on game day.

i dont take away anything from this game as it pertains to ours.

those just arent good ways to handicap these independent games. This outcome, or how it played out, doesnt really impact our outlook on the keys to UM vs UConn

BUT, I did take some things away

I will continue to bet against Pitt in big spots

And, i will continue to take Utah vs BCS teams. Already looking forward to 10/9 at Ioway State and 11/13 at Notre Dame. I'll likely be on the Utes in both games

Wanstedt: bad coach

Willingham: good coach, thank the Mormon Temple Utah's going to the Pac-10 otherwise he's outta there after this season.

Pitt: relevent lower tier bowl team, but if this is the class of the Big East, Oh Nellie, it's going to be fun on Saturday.

Utah: Amazing how having lots of experienced players in your program produces a consistent winner...

My takeaway is that a lot of recruits/recruiting "experts" keep saying that these top recruits are impressed with what Wannstache has going at Pitt . . .

. . . but I just don't see it.  Not that Michigan is doing anything great, but these recruits might be better off in the Big Ten at Michigan.  Andrew Carswell, Shayne Hale, Cam Saddler, Jeff Knox, TJ Clemmings, Brandon Ifill...
