Any Friendly Bets (with rivals' fans) for 2010

My bet with Sparty-relative last year is getting renewed even though he never took me up on lunch.

For those who are new or don't remember the bet was whether MSU's or UM's QBs would total for more yards in the season. There were some people interested last year so I'll probably post updates in my signature again this year.

The game is viewed at the hosting team fan's house each year (his pad outside Columbus this year).  The loser of the previous years game buys the winner's choice of drinks for the party (usually at least a case of beer).  My brother drinks shit beer, so I have had to not only endure for years now but have also had to supply it.  SO DON'T TELL ME THE GAME ISN'T PERSONAL!!!!!!

We have friends that go to our church who are ND fans and so the loser has to wear the winner's jersey to church the following Sunday.

$20 Michigan would win at least 6 games this year and $10 that they'd beat uconn in the home opener. I quoted rittenberg predicting another 5-7 season to sucker him into the bet.

I bet my MSU buddy $75 that Mich has a winning record.  7-5 I win.  6-6 push

Bet the Sparty that works for you that if MSU wins, he's fired.  It's a win-win situation for you.

But working 1/2 hour outside E. Lansing makes for lots of them.

1.  Loser has to sing the others fight song (solo) at a big Go Blue/Go Green tailgate.

2.  Loser has to wear the others gear for a week.

3.  Loser has to answer the phone, "Go Blue" or "Go Green" for a two week period.

4.  Loser has to buy a six pack for the winners tailgate the next year - and deliver it in the other school's jersey, while apologizing for his team's weakness.

5.  Loser to sing other schools fight song in other schools jersey on YouTube - not sure I'm taking this one.

6.  Loser must provide two tickets to the winner for next home game.

Provides some humbling moments - but I am way ahead on the scorecard!

$50 on the Iowa game; $50 on the OSU game, and a $50 bet with three separate people on a 9-4 or better season.

My cousin and I (both UM grads) bet two mutual friends (one MSU grad, one MSU flunkie), $200 per man, to be paid by a night out and on any combniation of beer/dinner/boobies the winners deem fit.

Last year I was at the game with the MSU flunkie (by that I mean he flunked out during his second year, but remains a fan), and lost $200 straight-up.  It was $100 initially, but upped it to $200 on the walk into the game.  Damn OT missed tackles!

...with my buddy who is a Texas fan. Last year, I lost because I bet him the following:

Michigan Wins + Detroit Lions wins +2 vs. Texas wins.

I lost, obviously and I had to spring for dinner at the best Prime Rib place in San Francisco.

This year, I'm more confident, but the bet has gotten exponentially more complex. The base formula is similar, but now there are Big 10 vs. Big 12 implications.

Michigan wins + Lions Wins -1 vs. Texas wins.

Which is generally even, I think given that both UM and Detroit should be improved and Texas is due for a step back (even if ever so slightly). Plus if either UM or Detroit goes nuts and surprises people, I'm set.

HOWEVA, both he and I must ALSO choose one team from our conference to serve as conference negator. This means that every win that team gets is subtracted from our total. So basically, I'll chose Indiana or Minne$ota and each win they get comes off my total. He'll do the same for Baylor or Iowa State or something.

THEN we will both get a point for each bowl win our conference picks up, with the caveat that a bowl win for either Michigan or Texas will count as two overall points.

So, I have no idea how that will turn out, but it should keep things interesting past the end of October, unlike last year.

FIL is a big VT fan.

Constant trash talk even though the teams never play... In-laws, I suppose.

If Michigan doesn't win 7 games and VT wins the ACC I have to buy him a VT Fathead.If Michigan does win at least 7 and VT doesn't win the ACC he has to buy me a UM Fathead.

Just a 50 dollar bet with my ND fan every year.  Last year really made me happy to take that 50.

my Penn State fan neighbor and I have a bet that the loser of the Michigan, PSU game must fly the other teams flag in front of their house for the next week.  This bet started in '05 and worked out great for me the first couple years.  The last couple, not so much.  I will be at Beaver Stadium this year decked out in my maize and blue on October 30! 

My brother (both brothers acutally) went to Notre Dame.  Every year, we bet on the game.  The loser buys the winner a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon.  We also have a traveling trophy, which is an empty 1.5 liter Woodfor bottle.  On the backside of the bottle, we write the year and score of the game.

Last year, my brother told me the liquor store was out of Woodford and bought me a bottle of Bulleit instead.  Not bad, but hopefully this year, the boys win a bottle of Woodford for me.

I've lost enough money betting on Michigan to realize it's not a good thing to bet on Michigan...for anything.

Laying 4-1 in the Alamo Bowl against Nebraska was the absolute worst.

Usually every bet with my friends involves a punch in the stomach, anything from playing basketball to seeing who can eat a tray of pizza faster, winner delivers the punch. Every year I bet a co-worker a punch in the gut for the PSU game, worked well in the past but recently I've done a lot of crunches to weater the storm.
