Any Chance of Ojemudia 5th Year?

Submitted by JCV16 on

During the NW Broadcast, one of the commentators said Harbaugh told him Michigan was looking into the possibility for Mario getting a 5th year. I thought that was completely impossible since he played in 5 games this year, but I wonder why Harbaugh would even mention it if that's the case. Is there any precedent for someone getting a 5th year in this circumstance? It does look like Mario didn't play much his first year, so maybe that could be factored in?

I've heard [from multiple outlets] that they are applying... It can't hurt to apply, if they get denied, they get denied.

Also, I heard that someone had asked Coach Harbaugh if he has a chance at the next level and he responded with some sort of 'absolutely' response... FWIW... No source...

I'd imagine that their argument is that it was a completely debilitating injury. It's not some "back soreness" or "turf toe" injury that has a gray area. An Achilles injury is clearly a season ender. It's not like we're trying to retroactively trying to cash in on a 5th year because of some sketchy injury that wasn't made public at the time it happened. He'll definitely have sympathy on his side.
