Antonio Kinard commits to Miami (YTM)
I'm not sure how much interest the current coaching staff was showing (or even the previous staff). Another Golden poach.
The fact that we didn't hear his name at all may say something about it. But, the fact that Miami took him may also say what we missed out on.
With Kellen Jones and Desmond Morgan in at LBs, with Beyer likely at DE and Frank Clark being recruited more for TE, this might make Frost an even bigger priority.

He wasn't going to get in, I'm glad he found somewhere to play college ball
January 17th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^
This really is best for him. I'm glad for him as well.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
Let me just say: congrats to Antonio on overcoming some adversity and landing a top D1 scholarship. Glad to see a "prep school" story become a success...even if not with us.
January 17th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
Going to prep school and having it pay off is a good thing. Good luck to him.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:54 PM ^
Miami is raping us. They are cashing in big on Rich Rod leaving Michigan - less big names recruiting in the state now.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
Yeah, they sure are raping us. They stole a kicker and a kid who didn't get an offer from Michigan for the 2011 class. Egads!
January 17th, 2011 at 6:21 PM ^
That's the best cat pic I've seen so far!
January 17th, 2011 at 6:35 PM ^
Yeah... but for a second there, I thought I was actually going to be RAPED.
/Step Brothers.

crawford named miami his leader after the past weekend
January 17th, 2011 at 7:46 PM ^
you little smugster.
January 17th, 2011 at 7:53 PM ^
He's been smug ever since ND decided not to pursue action against the football player accused of raping the girl who killed herself shortly thereafter.
Needless to say, Irish is good people.
January 17th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
Brian/mods, don't you think that somebody with -1219 MGoPoints and the handle of a serial killer should be banhammered? I mean, somebody who started too many pointless threads (k06em01) got banned, but not the serial killer guy? Really?
January 17th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
Who has two thumbs and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Michigan?
January 17th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
Stay classy.
January 17th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
Naming leaders means only slightly less than committing to a school (cough Justice Hayes cough Matt Goudis cough).
If we're counting "naming leaders" as "getting raped," then that really dilutes the whole "rape" metaphor. Where I come from, getting raped is more than "somewhat uncomfortable but subject to change."
January 17th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^
Ok, now he is just being a dick.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^
So you're saying the chances of him being in this years Michigan class are dwindling...
January 17th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
are belong to Miami.
:(
January 17th, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
former coach of SDSU. Can't be, it must be the weather, girls, South Beach, and a mostly empty stadium. Or that DB's timeline just sucked.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
Al Golden "We want all your commits!"
I know antonio wasn't coming but damn why didn't Al just coach at Michigan he seems to really like our players!
I believe that 3 so far Goudis, Crawford, Kinnard.
Is he after anyone else? I thought I heard he wants Jones and Fisher too
January 17th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
He is after Jones. The Gators, Ducks, and possibly Irish are after Fisher.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:24 PM ^
for taking Jones' spot, right?
January 17th, 2011 at 9:53 PM ^
ND isn't after fisher more of the other way around I think
January 17th, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
He got in contact with Jack Miller too
January 17th, 2011 at 6:10 PM ^
Who hasn't he contacted. If he starts talking to Hayes and Hollowell, he is in big trouble mister.
Sorry for the double post
January 17th, 2011 at 6:06 PM ^

January 17th, 2011 at 6:06 PM ^
...double trouble
January 17th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
I was going to say I thought I heard it here/possibly from you that he was after Fisher too.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:10 PM ^
I haven't heard anything about Miami-Fisher but I could have just missed it
January 17th, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
Maybe It's miller i'm thinking of and just got them confused.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
want Golden to start showing interest in Valdez Showers. The potential for awesome headlines is almost unimaginable.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:11 PM ^
The Golden Showers connection.
Love it.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:18 PM ^
Al Val?
January 17th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
Al Golden needs to go play in traffic.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
The first trip Hoke takes for recruiting should be right down to Miami to punch Golden right in the dick.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:59 PM ^
with the fact that our strong FL pipeline is basically over.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
Of course, you know, Kinard is from Ohio...
January 17th, 2011 at 6:03 PM ^
i'm aware. i was referencing to crawford.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:07 PM ^
I don't want to be a dick, but 'referencing to' is too funny
January 17th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
I've come to the conclusion that you aren't much of a thinker.
January 18th, 2011 at 1:45 AM ^
Not to discount him, but I think having Denard, Odoms and crew will still work to show the Florida kids that we're still friendly to the state.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
Why? Becasue one kid from Florida has opened up because he is unsure of who our defensive staff is going to be? Kinard was probably not going to get in as others stated and I wish him the best of luck. Goudis has now switched his commitment 3 times so who even knows if he will stay at Miami. I think we should wait until the current staff has a full recruiting season under their belt before we establish what pipelines have and have not been closed. It sucks to lose kids but we all knew it was gonna happen.
January 17th, 2011 at 7:47 PM ^
True, but perhaps we'll get a California one re-opened to somewhat make up for it. Besides is we do pull in Loeffler or a DC from one of the Florida schools there's no reason to say it won't open back up.
January 17th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
Hoke to touch Golden by dong punch.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:58 PM ^
Golden's going after Kevin Sousa too, just to be 'that guy'
January 17th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
Sousa doesn't go with the Canes. Unless they somehow pull in a top QB and slowplay Sousa.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:05 PM ^
Would Sousa fit with Golden's style? I watched a few Temple games and don't remember seeing any QBs in the last two or three years like Sousa there. Dude is a pretty big project.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
He has a pretty high upside as a passer
