Anthony Standifer?

Submitted by robbyt003 on

I know him and Michigan split ways a few months back, but I don't remember ever hearing the reason why.  I was just looking at his profile on ESPN and he didn't commit to any school.  He shows offers from some pretty big schools too, so just wondering if anyone has any idea what is going on?

I think someone mentioned it's about his grades, but then his parents came out and said his grades were not the problem.
You said "I think" so I was just confirming what you thought by saying, "it wasn't grades." I've made a mental note not to reply to your comments because you seem like a really sensitive guy and I don't want to upset you for no reason.

That sounds very fishy. Especially when there was still a semester left of a high school to enroll in this core class when the decommit happened not to mention a whole summer to take a correspondence course before Fall at UM.

We was going to commit to Notre dame, pending an online Spanish class but that fell through. Last I heard he was strongly considering Pitt

Yes, this is the consequence of no neg-banging.  Give it while and it will get worse.  The snark level has gone off the scale and is mostly mis-directed.  It used to be you could read 5-10 reply to a topic before it degenerated.  Now it seems like the 1st reply out of the gate is almost always antagonistic and sends things south quickly.  The current bad point system only rewards volume and not quality.

I don't see the upside of banking more than 1 scholarship.  I think in addition to Kozan (thinking in a positive manner) we still go after one of the uncommitted 3*'s.

I as well. especially since, if I understand this correctly, there's a good chance Gibbs may walk on if he isn't offered. His family, I'm told, has donated enromous amounts of money to UofM over the years, so he can afford the education, and UofM is THE school for him. I don't know what he'll do in the end, but maybe the offer itself is important to him, but I assume he's only holding off on a decision while he waits for Kozan's spirit quest to end.

At 6'1" his height and athleticism was really impressive to me, i thought he was at least a 4 star player really and was underrated. Wish it would've worked out. Plus, I always thought he could be a true CB and not convert to Safety.

If he hasn't satisfied the core curriculum required for NCAA eligibility to us or Notre Dame, how can he be available to Pitt?  I assume this Spanish class is necessary to meet NCAA minimums, no  (or no, for my Spanish speaking friends)?

Si senor.  Espanol es muy importanto.

Which reminds me of  joke I once heard the great comedian Paul Rodriguez tell (try to imagine it in a thick hispanic accent)....

I was on an elevator in LA the other day and these two Japanese tourists get on and start jabbering away in Japanese.  I listened for a while and got madder and madder and finally I had enough and had to say something.

"HEY" i yelled at them.  "This is AMERICA.  Speak Spanish!"

I'd say they do a fine job policing the site.  They seem to be pretty on top of getting rid of obvious trolls.  But as a site becomes more popular the population of people who think they have something meaningful to contribute but actually don't definitely rises.  Should they be banned or disallowed to post?

Unfortunately when points actually mattered, people seemed to get obsessed with them and there was far too much discussion about points.  Not sure what the solution is, but I don't think it should be heavy policing of the site by mods either.
