Anthony Barr to UCLA - as an OLB

Submitted by jtmc33 on

Anthony Barr (once considered a "shot" for UM) picked UCLA over Notre Dame. Barr, referred to all recruiting season as a 6'4" 225 lb. RB, is listed as an OLB at the college level (according to Scout).

I considered him an ND lock... at least UM won't see him there

Any thoughts on this Irish? I haven't really followed his recruitment, was he really a ND lock? Did ND "cool" on him? Did you not like Charlie leaving? I thought Tenuta was let go when Kelly was brought on, is that why Barr isn't at ND now?

I'd just like to get your thoughts on this if I could.

ND still looked to be holding strong with Barr after the season, but he was someone who really held off recruiting for most of the year. It was obvious that he wanted to see how the season went and whether Weis was still going to be around in 2010.

Kelly did a good job trying to make up the ground after the coaching change, but 2 weeks with the new ND coaching staff didn't overcome slick rick's 2 years. Neuheisel definitely had some things going for UCLA, obviously, but I can't complain about the effort that was put in by Kelly. It still sucks, but wish Barr the best, and just have to move on.

And actually I am more worried about ND losing an actual commit tonight than a recruit.

about how Brian Kelly struck out big time by not landing this highly touted, seemingly lock of a prospect in Barr...A legacy, no less. His first loss at ND. Because if it was Michigan in that situation, ESPN would have a fucking ticker going and it would make big news.

Yesterday on Rivals Radio, Mike Ferrell said that Barr's family wanted him to go to UCLA, while Anthony wanted to go to ND. I guess the family convinced him to stay closer to home....
