Another Yost Scorboard UPDATE

Submitted by Croatian_Blue on

This thing is huge compared to not only the old scoreboard, but in relation to the arena.

Can't wait to see a game there and the new scoreboards at Crisler and the Big House.

Will it fit in the yost? The ceilings aren't that high and that looks to big for the arena. I really hope it doesn't interfere with sightlines and constantly get hit by pucks.

There's a rather well known, pretty expensive new stadium in Dallas Texas that has a scoreboard has been known to directly effect the flight path of footballs.  So let's not pretend like things can't go wrong.

Dallas hung it 5 feet higher than the NFL told them was the minimum.  It's very common in hockey though to have center ice scoreboards.  I just feel for the spectators who cannot see the Yost boards because of the upper deck overhang.  Maybe they'll put up mini-godzillatrons for them.

The people for whom the scoreboards will block the ice are sitting in the boxes, no athletic director is going to screw that up and hang it too low.

When will the 2011 CCHA Champions banner be raised? And they need to add years onto the GLI and Frozen Four banners.

The banners will probably be put up over the summer; they generally don't have banner-raisings for conference championships, nor should they.

Michigan's hockey team is not taking full credit for conference championships, though:  the Big Ten awarded a hockey championship trophy every year from 1959 through 1981, so Michigan needs to put up banners for Big Ten championships (1961, 1962, 1964, 1968, 1969) and maybe for a Big Ten tournament championship in 1968, although they would need to do some research to determine whether the "Big Ten Tournament", held from 1967 through 1969, was an official conference event.
