As of press time, the blurred voice of BCS 9000 could be heard on an audio-only broadcast from the Bowl Championship Series office building as the computer sang "Hail to the victors," words from the Michigan Wolverines' fight song, at a slowly decreasing tempo.
Another UM reference in The Onion
Now that's gold, Onion!
And accurate, too! Considering U of M's long history of Championships, that would've been the first thing it learned!
What are you doing, Dave?
"BCS admitted that he has made some very poor decisions lately, especially when he sent Notre Dame to the Sugar Bowl in 2007," Bowman said.
Onion assistant editor Megan Ganz graduated from Michigan in 2006 (where she was, naturally, E3W editor too). I hope she was responsible for this one as well:
My work computer blocks The Onion, but I am imagining the t-shirt blaster as a Pulitzer-winning piece. Only 7 short hours until I can read at home...
I'm pretty sure its just a picture. But it is an epic picture.
Just a picture? Or my future wallpaper?
good for Megan - i had no idea as i hadn't talked to her in years. she quit in '09 fyi and is now working as a writer for Community
Ah, I knew she wrote for Community but her Twitter profile still said she was an Onion editor too. I figure she'd be the SNL Weekend Update anchor by now but she doesn't want to stop using the f-word.
"It's greatest error was sending Notre Dame to the Sugar Bowl in 2007". lulz
edit: beat me to it.
Funny article, but I actually found this one to be more amusing. It's completely OT just saw the link while I was reading the BCS 9000 article.
"Many will be sold in boxes containing fewer condoms than the packaging indicates in order to arouse feelings of suspicion and jealousy and help contemptuous couples get in the right mood for unfulfilling and empty sex." is just comedy gold.
As was the "angry" couple on the box, back-to-back, and "Extra Gritty" hihghlighted notation.
but I just remembered what a great movie that was. That will likely be the only time in my life that I have ever been legitimately sad about the "death" of an insane, homocidal computer.
Funny article. I had this picture prior to reading this, I swear.
I wonder what percentage of The Onion's readership has actually seen "2001: A Space Odyssey"?
Dave? Have you seen it? Dave, what are you doing? What are you doing, Dave?
The one where the Soviet team takes Roy Scheider and John Lithgow on a mission to explore the Great Blind Spot in Dan Beebe's vision.
Wit, humor, and well written. Literature.
