Another Glenville Recruit "Impressed" by Michigan

http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=3941788 Its behind a Paywall, but there is article on Scout talking about OT Audrey Walker's Visit to UM. Walker is currently a 4-star prospect with offers from USC, tOSU, PSU, ND, MSU, and a host of other schools. He's a big boy at 6'6 335, but gives off that same "gentile giant" vibe that William Campbell had. Perhaps the best quote of the article was:
“The school impressed me overall with the academics and the football,” Walker continued. "Coach Rod is real cool! He gave me a couple of Reese’s cups, some Gatorade, and we chilled and talked (laughing). He’s real cool and down to earth man.”
I'll be dubious of any Glenville visitors until the day we finally land one, but hey, at least we're still trying...

Jamie, what your list tells me is that kids from Glenville either go to OSU, or to a clearly inferior schoool (sans UT and Miami, but did Latwan have an OSU offer? He wasn't a real Glenville kid anyway, he only played there his senior year). I'd be willing to bet that almost all of the kids who went to the schools you listed did not have an OSU offer. So maybe it's not that "all Glenville kids go to OSU" but more like "all Glenville kids go to OSU who have that as an option." And this kid has that as an option. That said, our other boy at Glenville (Cardale something?) does not have an OSU offer, and probably won't get one to play QB. That is a much more likely option.

All good points...well, except for the one about Indiana and Toledo being inferior. That just hurts. My point with the numbers was not this guy will come here, you watch! But rather to point out that Glenville recruits are not out of the question for anyone. And to quell some of the disdain seen in threads regarding Glenville that Michigan is somehow wasting their time. I felt that tenor in one or two posts up thread. I think its significant that 10 other schools picked up Glenville recruits, some multiple commitments, in the last 4 years. But to WolvinLa's point on the QB recruit, these numbers are more appropriate for that discussion. But I still dont think its accurate to assume a Glenville kid will automatically go to OSU, regardless of the deeper look taken at those numbers on the offer issue. In the last class, the high school's top ranked recruit went elsewhere, despite an OSU offer. In two of the last four years, OSU lost a Glenville recruit despite having offered. And I dont neceassirly use the offer as the sole arbiter of interest on the part of the university. Besides, most of those kids without offers also didnt have offers, and in a lot of case any interest, from Michigan. What happens if Michigan offers some of those kids? There was OSU interest in just about every one. You'd see more OSU offers, but I dont think you can say you'd see more OSU commits. Some of those kids had nice offer lists and dont think they're putting everything on hold for the home state school. Some kids dont like that late offer BS. Too much pride, if you will. Not saying they'd be going to Michigan, but there's a good chance they'd go one of the other schools on their lists. But, whatever. My main point is this isnt a waste of time for Michigan. I'd like to see them extend their efforts and start offering those Glenville kids who seem destined for elsehwere outside of Columbus. At a school with that much talent, you cant just show up for the top prospect. If you dont show any interest in the rest, you'll have no chance with the blue chip in a situation like this. I like seeing Rodriguez and Co getting more involved with this school. It's the right thing to do as part of their recruit the whole state of Ohio strategy, within the framework of their entire recruiting strategy.

How long till that litterbox liner in Detroit turns this into a sexual predator type of article? With things like candy and Gatorade, looks like we're pulling out all the stop to get this kid! To Catch a Predator Pictures, Images and Photos

I love that this thread is missing the political correctness that mauls usual threads of this nature. I don't usually post, but I'm so proud of you sons of bitches.
