Another Denard Heisman Photo Pose

Submitted by StephenRKass on

I really liked the photoshoped Heisman meme posted yesterday. Here is another photo, presumably the same photographer, that is strikingly foreshadowing of the Heisman pose. (personally, I like yesterday's pic stiff arming the ND defender better than this one, but you can't have too much of a good thing.)

probably an earlier pic in the sequence--it looks like he is right about to stiff-arm the ND defender.  I don't know which pic I like more from UM/ND games--this one, or Brady Quinn crying with a piece of sod in his facemask after getting sacked in the '06 game

I think this is the greatest Michigan football photo of the past ten years; it is one of the handful of great photos in Michigan football history.  All it needs is some history, yet to be made, to go along with it.

Denard is, technically, flying in this picture.  This is not a Heisman "pose"; it isn't a "pose" at all.  This is what the Heisman trophy's sculptor/creator only dreamed of emulating, in real life.

One other interesting thing I see in the background, since some of you have mentioned having John U. Bacon as an adjunct instrouctor in some of your sportswriting/history of sportswriting classes... Bacon appears to be the guy crouching in the lower right of the frame.  John's been on the field for both of the first two games this year.  He's often, though not always, on the sidelines.  I wonder if he is doing a book on Coach Rodriguez?
