Relax, Cat.
February 2nd, 2015 at 11:08 AM ^
I'm going to say Grant Perry.
February 2nd, 2015 at 12:58 PM ^
There's a mountain of Twitter evidence that Perry just went blue. He just followed three Michigan players/coaches since yesterday and Michigan commit Jack Dunaway (who was at Brother Rice with Malzone and Perry) tweeted "the three amigos are back together" then deleted it.

didn't work out so well.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Jay Harbaugh did his "amaizing" thing yesterday before/during the Burnett stuff. Some people interpreted his "blessings on blessings on blessings" tweet to be about recruits, but he has pretty clearly established that he throws down an "amaizing" when a guy commits.
February 2nd, 2015 at 11:37 AM ^
Twitter interpretation fail by me.
February 2nd, 2015 at 2:20 PM ^
If it were Perry, might the "blessings on blessings on blessings" tweet make sense. Perry would make three teamates from Rice, a religiously based school -- ie the three amigos.

Grant Perry just reaffirmed his commitment to NW on StateChamps Saturday night. Not saying that it couldn't be him though, can anybody tell me how Ypsilanti Lincoln WR Lazon Hicks Jr has really only recieved GLIAC and MAC attention? Academics? This guy is 6'5'' and 210lbs, could have real potential there.

the way it was worded, i tend to think its one of the bigger targets, maybe jefferson, maybe weber, maybe wheatley i dont know but to me the way he worded it makes be think its a bigger target
February 2nd, 2015 at 11:28 AM ^
I'm not sure about how big the target might be, but I'm guessing it's definitely not a TE, and may be on the defensive side of the ball. Since he just overheard the phone call, rather than hearing about it himself.

I'm guessing it's Jefferson, but I would be happy with any of the three you mentioned.

Even without Clark, UCLA has an amazing class coming in this year. With proper coaching, UCLA looks like it'll be a force to come.
February 2nd, 2015 at 1:00 PM ^
Yes this is shaping up to be a heck of a class and they look to be on quite a few guys on NSD as well. I am not surprised from the angle of all the things UCLA offers and its a sleeping giant type of program that has underachieved. I am surprised no one cares that their coach is going around and throwing his hat into quite a few NFL coaching searches.
UCLA being good is tough on UM because we have a very similar academic profile and Jim seems to be focusing on a lot of CA kids for 2016.

I'm hoping it's Williamson.

For what that's worth (which may not be very much, given that he may have heard about the same commit through a different channel):

@jcshurburtt Is this related to Jay Harbaugh's tweet? Do you know who it is?
@ccrowder22 Not Twitter related.

Yeah if its Perry its basically a plan C type WR behind the others. Not sure why we are so focused on getting a WR in this class with limited slots when we have Harris and Ways who essentially are freshman on a depth chart (RS of course) next year, and Darboh Chesson Canteen ahead. I can understand for a Van Jefferson type talent but this is a kid with no Big 10 offers outside NW.

I think we will have a few Norfleet like last minute flips. You may not remember it but that was pretty cool when it happened. So, not entirely disapointing.

Goddamn you McDonalds
February 2nd, 2015 at 12:54 PM ^
For anyone with more knowledge about the kid than I have. Can he be a solid contributor? I know he has nice highschool numbers.
February 2nd, 2015 at 1:13 PM ^
Do not underestimate Grant Perry and his cache with Malzone. Kid is talented and I thought ridiculously underrated, all he did was catch everything. And he's a very good student to boot, 3.7 GPA.

1) reminded of how sharp Malzone's accuracy is and his throws definitely get there in a hurry
2) Perry is a great athlete and can return kicks as well.
I'd be pumped to land Perry. Not a plan C at all.

Unless some of our current WRs are switching positions... why go for more WRs? I don't get it.
February 2nd, 2015 at 5:38 PM ^
a) We're not in a mode where we have a ton of "needs." We're in a situation where we can generally take the best player available. I do think we need at least one cornerback and one tight end, but the other spots are for the "best available" player right now, IMO.
b) Perry offers something Michigan does not really have, which is a small-ish possession guy who can play in the slot and run some quick routes. Hoke's biggest recruiting shortcoming (outside of recruiting better/more quarterbacks) is that he brought in a bunch of large, lumbering wide receivers who can't get separation. Perry's not a huge deep threat, but I can see him being used in some of the same ways that you saw Amendola and Edelman being used for New England.
